PennDOT Reopens Springfield Street Bridge in Springfield Towsnhip, Bucks
County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced
that
the newly rehabilitated township-owned Springfield Street bridge over SEPTA

tracks in Springfield Township, Bucks County, reopened to traffic on Friday

afternoon, September 9.

The Springfield Street bridge was part of PennDOT's $2.3 million project to

rehabilitate five structurally deficient bridges - four township owned and
one
county owned - in Bucks County.

Construction began on June 13, 2016 to replace the bridge's deteriorated
deck
and beams. The Springfield Street bridge is a single-span, prestressed
adjacent
box beam bridge built in 1985. It is 72 feet long and 45 feet wide. It
carries
150 vehicles a day.

This local bridge improvement project was enabled through Act 89,
Pennsylvania's transportation plan.

In addition to the Springfield Street bridge, construction on the
county-owned
Kansas Road bridge over Little Neshaminy Creek in Warrington Township was
completed Thursday, June 9, 2016. Construction on the township-owned Willow

Road bridge over Ironworks Creek in Northampton Township began March 28,
2016,
work on the Moyer Road bridge over Pleasant Spring Creek in Hilltown
Township
began April 18, 2016, and work on the Alden Road bridge in Falls Township
began
June 20, 2016.

H&K Group, Inc., of Skippack, Montgomery County, is the general contractor
on
the $2,353,598 project. The rehabilitation of the five bridges is expected
to
be completed in late 2016. The project is financed with 100 percent state
funds.
