5th Street Restricted Next Week for Pedestrian Safety Improvements in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – Lane closures with flagging are scheduled next week on 5th Street between Chelten Avenue and 66th in Philadelphia, on Monday, April 1, through Friday, April 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for trench work, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The trench work is part of a pedestrian safety improvement project to upgrade traffic signals at intersections on 2nd Street between Lehigh Avenue and Rising Sun Avenue and 5th street between Cheltenham Avenue and Godfrey Avenue in Philadelphia.

Armour & Sons Electric, of Langhorne, PA is the general contractor on the $1,700,906 project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. Construction on this project is expected to finish in winter 2020.
