PennDOT - District 6 News: Route 73, I-76 Among Several State Highways Restricted Next Week for Bridge Inspections in Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties

Route 73, I-76 Among Several State Highways Restricted Next Week for Bridge Inspections in Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties

​King of Prussia, PA – Lane closures are scheduled next week on several state highways in Montgomery and Philadelphia counties including Route 73 (Washington Lane) and Interstate 76 for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

  • Monday, April 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled in both directions on Route 73 (Washington Lane) between Church Lane and Township Line Road in Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County;
  • Monday, April 1, and Tuesday, April 2, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on westbound I-76 between the South Street and Interstate 676 interchanges in Philadelphia;
  • Tuesday, April 2, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on westbound I-76 between the Gulph Mills and King of Prussia/Norristown interchanges in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County;
  • Wednesday, April 3, and Thursday, April 4, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled in both directions on I-76 between the Interstate 476 North and Gladwyne interchanges in Lower Merion Township and West Conshohocken Borough Montgomery County;
  • Friday, April 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on Fayette Street between Route 23 (Front Street) and Elm Street in Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County; and
  • Sunday, April 7, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on westbound I-76 at the I-476 North Interchange in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through all work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least once every two years to ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.
