Lane Closures Scheduled Next Week on U.S. 422 East and Armand Hammer
Boulevard in Lower Pottsgrove Township

The left lane is scheduled to close on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Route
724
(Schuylkill Road) and Armand Hammer interchanges in Lower Pottsgrove
Township,
Montgomery County, on Monday, May 8, from 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM, for pavement
repair related to a $73.3 million project to rebuild 1.6 miles of U.S. 422
between the Sanatoga and Route 724 (Schuylkill Road) interchanges, and
construct new bridges over the Schuylkill River and Norfolk Southern
railroad
tracks.

In addition to the left lane closure on eastbound U.S. 422, lane
restrictions
with flagging are scheduled on Armand Hammer Boulevard between Yost Road
and
the ramp to eastbound U.S. 422 on Monday, May 8, and Wednesday, May 10,
from
6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, and on Tuesday, May 9, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and
6:00 PM
to 6:00 AM, for milling and paving operations.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these work
areas. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor is building, in phases, new U.S.
422
structures over the Schuylkill River; new U.S. 422 structures over Norfolk
Southern railroad tracks; rebuilding U.S. 422 from the Schuylkill River
bridge
to the Porter Road overpass; installing new median barriers; replacing the
Armand Hammer Boulevard bridge over U.S. 422; improving and realigning
ramps at
the U.S. 422/Armand Hammer Boulevard Interchange; reconstructing and
realigning
the ramp from Route 724 to U.S. 422 east; improving storm water drainage;
erecting three overhead sign structures; installing conduit for future
Intelligent Transportation equipment; and installing new guide rail and
signs.

Construction on the entire project is scheduled to finish in October 2018.

J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
project that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state
funds.
