I-76 Overnight Lane Closures Next Weekend for ITS Installations in Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties

King of Prussia, PA – Interstate 76 motorists will encounter overnight lane closures in both directions in Philadelphia and Montgomery counties from 11:00 PM Friday, November 1, to 9:00 AM Saturday, November 2, for installation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) components, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work locations are:

  • Eastbound I-76 between U.S. 1 and the Strawberry Mansion Bridge in Philadelphia; and
  • Westbound I-76 between Righters Ferry Road and Belmont Avenue in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County.

In addition, periodic shoulder closures will remain in place on I-76 at various locations between the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Montgomery Drive weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and weekends from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Motorists are advised to allow more time for travel in the work area because backups and slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

This work is part of the first phase of a long-range, comprehensive, multimodal transportation management plan designed to enhance travel and safety along the Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) corridor between King of Prussia and Philadelphia. The project is expected to be completed this fall. For additional details, visit www.transform76.com.
