PennDOT to Rehabilitate the Bridge Carrying Limekiln Road over Cooks Run in Doylestown, Bucks County

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will begin Monday, October 28, to rehabilitate the bridge carrying Limekiln Road over Cooks Run in Doylestown Township, Bucks County.

Due to the nature of construction, Limekiln Road will be closed and detoured between Cooks Run Road and Shady Retreat Road during the length of the rehabilitation project. Beginning Monday, October 28, through mid-January, Limekiln Road motorists will be directed to use Pine Run Road, Old Dublin Pike, Main Street, State Street and West Street. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

Built in 1938, and reconstructed in 1980, the one-span bridge is 16 feet long and 27 feet wide. The structure carries an average of 5,951 vehicles a day.

The rehabilitation of the bridge carrying Limekiln Road over Cooks Run is part of PennDOT's $7.8 million project to rehabilitate seven poor condition bridges in Bucks and Montgomery counties, three structurally-deficient culverts in Bucks County, and to stabilize a stream embankment at a bridge in Bucks County.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., is the general contractor on the project that is financed with 100 percent state funds through Act 89, Pennsylvania's transportation plan.
