King of Prussia, PA – Southbound Interstate 95 will be reduced from three lanes-to-two on Monday, October 7, through Thursday, October 10, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for median construction between the Girard Avenue and Interstate 676 interchanges in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Crews will be closing the southbound right lane for placement of concrete for the parapet wall on a section of the new southbound I-95 viaduct that is being replaced under PennDOT's $312 million contract to rebuild southbound I-95 at the Girard Avenue Interchange.

The Girard Avenue ramp to southbound I-95 will remain open during the parapet construction operation. The southbound off-ramp at Girard Avenue remains closed for reconstruction until mid-2021.

In addition, daytime closures are scheduled on four surface streets under the I-95 overpass for overhead bridge work. The work schedule is:

  • Lehigh Avenue will be closed between Richmond Street and Salmon Street on Tuesday, October 8, and Wednesday, October 9, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM for overhead bridge demolition.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured south on Aramingo Avenue, then east on Cumberland Street to Richmond Street.
o Westbound traffic will be detoured west on Cumberland Street, then north on Aramingo Avenue back to Lehigh Avenue.

  • Northbound Aramingo Avenue will be closed between the southbound I-95 on-ramp and Delaware Avenue on Monday, October 7, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM for overhead bridge construction.

Traffic will be detoured westbound on Girard Avenue, then south on Frankford Avenue to Delaware Avenue.

  • Cambria Street will be closed between Salmon Street and Richmond Street on Monday, October 7, and Tuesday, October 8, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM for overhead bridge demolition.

Traffic will be detoured south on Aramingo Avenue, then east on Cumberland Street to Richmond Street.

  • Eastbound Girard Avenue will be closed between Richmond Street and Aramingo Avenue on Thursday, October 10, and Friday, October 11, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM for overhead bridge construction.

Traffic will be detoured south on Frankford Avenue to Delaware Avenue.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
