PennDOT Reopens Route 32 (River Road) This Afternoon in Tinicum and
Plumstead Townships

4/22/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) this afternoon
reopened
Route 32 (River Road) between Walters Lane and Point Pleasant Pike in
Tinicum
and Plumstead townships, Bucks County, following the successful removal of
the
temporary bridge at Point Pleasant.

Route 32 (River Road) was closed to traffic on April 4 to allow crews to
safely
remove the temporary bridge that was built to carry motorists during the
construction of the new Route 32 (River Road) over Tohickon Creek.

Construction began in December 2013 to build the newly opened, two-span,
precast, concrete-arch structure. The new bridge is adorned with an
aesthetic
stone finish on the support abutments and wing walls. It is 160 feet long
and
37 feet wide. It has two 11-foot travel lanes, a six-foot-wide sidewalk
adjacent to the northbound travel lane, and three-foot shoulders.

The former bridge, built in 1922, was a two-span, reinforced concrete-arch
structure that was 156 feet long and 27 feet wide.

Loftus Construction, Inc., of Cinnaminson, N.J., is the general contractor
on
the $5,970,000 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds. All

work on the project is expected to be completed in late May.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including

color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 miles, by visiting www.511PA.com.
511PA,
which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay
warnings,
weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 700
traffic cameras.

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and
Android
devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts
accessible
on the 511PA website.
