Travel Restrictions Scheduled in Philadelphia for Bridge Inspections

Travel restrictions are scheduled over the next week for a series of bridge

inspections in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT) today announced.

Weather permitting, the bridge inspection schedule is:

• On Monday, April 11, and Tuesday, April 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the
right lane will be closed on Route 291 west (Penrose Avenue/Platt Bridge)
between 26th Street and Bartram Avenue;
• On Tuesday, April 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed
on Route 291 east (Penrose Avenue/Platt Bridge) between Bartram Avenue and
26th
Street; and
• On Wednesday, April 13, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, one lane will be closed
on
Tacony Street between Aramingo Avenue and Bridge Street.

Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel where the
inspections
take place. The inspection schedules are dependent on the weather.

The bridge inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect state
bridges
at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and
overall
condition of the structures.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by
visiting
www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides
traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and
access
to more than 770 traffic cameras.

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and
Android
devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts
accessible
on the 511PA website.
