Travel Restrictions Scheduled in Philadelphia Region for Bridge Inspections

Travel restrictions are scheduled over the next week for a series of bridge

inspections in the Philadelphia region, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) today announced.

Weather permitting, the bridge inspection schedule is:

• On Monday, April 18, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed
on northbound and southbound South Gulph Road between Route 320 and
Swedeland
Road in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County;
• On Monday, April 18, through Friday April 22, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
the
right lane will be closed on Route 291 (Penrose Avenue/Platt Bridge) west
between 26th Street and Bartram Avenue in Philadelphia;
• On Tuesday, April 19, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed
on Interstate 76 west between the Interstate 476 and Gulph Mills
interchanges
in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County;
• On Tuesday, April 19, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed
on northbound and southbound Route 320 (Chester Road) between Fieldhouse
Lane
and Visitor's Center Road in Swarthmore Borough, Delaware County;
• On Tuesday, April 19, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, one lane will be closed
on
eastbound and westbound Pulaski Drive between Goddard Boulevard and Mall
Boulevard in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County;
• On Wednesday, April 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed on I-76 east between the Gulph Mills and I-476 interchanges in Upper

Merion Township, Montgomery County;
• On Wednesday, April 20, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed on Route 309 north between Bergey Road and Route 113 (East Broad
Street)
in Hilltown Township, Bucks County. The southbound right lane will be
closed
from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM; and
• On Thursday, April 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed
on northbound and southbound Righters Ferry Road between Monument Road and
Access Road in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County.

Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel where the
inspections
take place. The inspection schedules are dependent on the weather.

The bridge inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect state
bridges
at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and
overall
condition of the structures.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by
visiting

traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and
access
to more than 770 traffic cameras.
