PennDOT to Repair and Resurface South Broad Street and Stenton Avenue in
Philadelphia

4/29/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA

Construction will begin Monday, May 2, on a $2.1 million project to repair
and
resurface over a mile of South Broad Street (Route 611) and 1.5 miles of
Stenton Avenue in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation
(PennDOT) today announced.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT will mill off the existing roadway
surface and resurface South Broad Street and Stenton Avenue with asphalt
pavement. The new pavement will extend the life of both streets and provide
a
smoother riding surface.

Beginning Monday, May 2, crews will work weekdays and weeknights to mill
and
repave South Broad Street (Route 611) between Oregon Avenue and the Navy
Yard.
This operation, which is expected to take about three weeks to complete,
will
result in lane closures and slowdowns from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00
PM
to 6:00 AM.

Following the resurfacing of South Broad Street, the contractor will begin
milling and paving Stenton Avenue between Bethlehem Pike and Ivy Hill Road.

James J. Anderson Constructors, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general
contractor
on the $2,120,756 project that is financed with 100 percent state. All work
on
the project is expected to be completed in August.
