Travel Restrictions ThisWeekend on U.S. 202 North, Route 401 in Chester
County

4/26/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA

Lane and ramp closures are scheduled this weekend for construction on U.S.
202
north and Route 401 (Conestoga Road) at its interchange with U.S. 202 in
East
Whiteland Township, Chester County, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work is part of the $63.3 million project to widen and reconstruct 2.5
miles of U.S. 202 from north of Route 401 to U.S. 30, and rebuild and
improve
the Route 401 Interchange.

From 8:00 PM Saturday, April 30, to 10:00 AM Sunday, May 1, U.S. 202 north
will
be reduced from two lanes to one between the U.S. 30 and Route 401
(Conestoga
Road) interchanges as crews pave the northbound off-ramp to Route 401 and
realign construction barriers at the interchange.

During the weekend operation, the U.S. 202 north exit ramp to Route 401
(Conestoga Road) will be closed and detoured from 8:00 PM Saturday, April
30,
to 10:00 AM Sunday, May 1. Motorists on U.S. 202 north heading for Route
401
(Conestoga Road) will be directed to exit at the U. S. 30 (Lancaster
Avenue)
Interchange, and then turn right onto U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) east, and
follow U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) to the intersection of Route 401
(Conestoga
Road), and then turn left onto Route 401 (Conestoga Road).

Motorists also will encounter travel restrictions on Route 401 (Conestoga
Road)
at the U.S. 202 Interchange from 7:00 PM Friday, April 29, to 10:00 AM
Saturday, April 30, for line striping and traffic signal realignment.
Periodic
lane closures, traffic shifts and brief stoppages will occur as crews work
to
place Route 401 (Conestoga Road) traffic into its permanent alignment.
Route
401 (Conestoga Road) has been widened at the interchange to include two
through
lanes plus separate turn lanes to access ramps to U.S. 202.

In addition, periodic flagger-controlled lane closures and brief stoppages
also
will take place on Route 401 (Conestoga Road) at the U.S. 202 Interchange
on
Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for
paving
and other operations.

All scheduled activities are dependent on the weather.

Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel and use extra
care
when driving through the work zones.

Construction to expand U.S. 202 to six lanes from north of Route 401 to
U.S.
30, including work at the Route 401 Interchange, is being performed by
Allan A.
Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County. The project is scheduled to
finish
in late summer 2016.
