Wolf Administration Announces Work to Begin on Route 3 (West Chester Pike) Safety Improvement Project in Haverford Township

King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to begin Monday, April 8, on a project to improve traffic flow and safety at nine intersections along Route 3 (West Chester Pike) in Haverford Township, Delaware County.

"We are committed to improvement projects that include modern safety enhancements to alleviate congestion and move traffic safely which is vital to improving the quality of life for local residents," Governor Tom Wolf said.

Under this safety improvement project, crews will install and implement adaptive technology onto existing mast arms and controller cabinets. The adaptive equipment will vary the signal times based on real-time traffic data, improving the efficiency of the signal operation.

On Monday, April 8, through Friday, April 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, motorists will encounter a right lane closure in both directions on Route 3 (West Chester Pike) between Glen Gary Drive and Naylors Run Road, for traffic signal installation.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work zone because slowdowns will occur during construction. The contractor's schedule is weather dependent.

Armour & Sons Electric, Inc., of Langhorne, PA, is the general contractor on the $908,075 project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late 2020.
