Wolf Administration Announces Work to Begin on Project to Repair and Resurface 39 Miles of State Highway in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to begin Monday, April 15, on a project to repair and resurface 39 miles of state highway in Philadelphia.

 "The restoration of these roadways will improve travel, safety and the overall quality of life for those who travel them each day," Governor Tom Wolf said. "These types of resurfacing projects are an important part of investing in the Commonwealth's infrastructure.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

On Monday, April 15, through Friday, April 19, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 532 (Bustleton Avenue) between County Line Road and U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) for milling and other road work.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather.

Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract include:

  • Route 73 (Cottman Avenue/State Road/New State Road) between the Montgomery County line and Levick Street;
  • Route 73 (Cottman Avenue) between State Road and Interstate 95;\
  • Route 611 (Broad Street/Old York Road) between Indiana Avenue and the Montgomery County line;
  • Bridge Street between Richmond Street and Frankford Avenue;
  • Christopher Columbus Boulevard between Oregon Avenue/Delaware Avenue and Race Street;
  • Delaware Avenue between Spring Garden Street and Columbia Avenue;
  • Richmond Street between Lewis Street and Bristol Street;
  • Sixth Street between Walnut Street and Spring Garden Street;
  • City Line Lower and Upper Bridge between U.S. 1 (City Avenue) and Ridge Avenue;
