Wolf Administration Announces Project to Begin to Rehabilitate and Repair Five Miles of U.S. 422 in Montgomery County
King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that construction will begin next week on a project to rehabilitate pavement and repair seven structures along a five-mile section of U.S. 422 between the Royersford/Trappe and Sanatoga interchanges in Limerick and Lower Pottsgrove townships, Montgomery County.
"This project is critical to extending the service life of a major artery linking Montgomery and Chester counties," Governor Tom Wolf said. "Travel and safety will be greatly enhanced once a new riding surface is constructed and repairs are completed to several bridges along this key corridor."
Under this two-year improvement project, PennDOT's contractor will mill, overlay and rehabilitate existing U.S. 422 pavement; perform bridge deck repairs, concrete and joint patching, sealing and drainage improvements; install new guide rail and rumble strips; and repair or replace damaged traffic signs along the corridor.
On Monday, May 6, through Saturday, May 11, U.S. 422 motorists will encounter periodic daytime shoulder closures in both directions between Pleasant View Road and Township Line Road for installation of advanced warning equipment.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling on U.S. 422 in the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
H & K Group Inc. of Skippack, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the $17,874,021 project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. The entire project is expected to be completed in summer 2021.
