New U.S. 422 East Fly-Over Ramp to Route 23 to Open Tomorrow Morning in Valley Forge Area

King of Prussia, PA – PennDOT will open the newly built fly-over ramp from eastbound U.S. 422 to Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County, sometime after midnight Friday, August 17, following its reconstruction. The ramp had been closed to eastbound U.S. 422 motorists since February 12.

Prior to the ramp opening, the right lane will close on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Route 363 (Trooper Road) and Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) interchanges from 7:00 PM tonight, August 16, to sometime after midnight on Friday, August 17, so crews can remove barrier and perform line striping operations.

The improvements at this interchange are part of a major project to build new, wider bridges to carry U.S. 422 motorists over the Schuylkill River, Norfolk Southern Railroad, South Trooper Road and Schuylkill River Trail in West Norriton, Upper Merion and Lower Providence townships.

Next week, eastbound U.S. 422 motorists will encounter a left lane closure between the Oaks and U.S. 202 interchanges on Thursday, August 23, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for paving operations.

Motorists are advised to allow more time for travel near the work area. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.

Construction on this improvement project began in February 2016 and is scheduled to finish in May 2020.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on the $97.4 million project that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.
