U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) Overnight Lane Closures Next Week for Construction in Upper Merion Township
King of Prussia, PA – Overnight lane closures will be in place next week on U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) for reconstruction of the median and installation of an electronic message sign at Mall Boulevard in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
On Sunday, August 19, through Friday, August 24, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, crews will reduce northbound U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) to one through lane, and southbound U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) to two through lanes between South Gulph Road and Allendale Road.
During the scheduled construction, at least one left turn lane will be maintained from northbound U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) onto Mall Boulevard and from southbound U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) onto Shaffer Road.
Motorists are advised that backups will occur approaching the work zone. All planned activities will be rescheduled in the event of rain.
PennDOT is installing the Dynamic Message Sign (DMS) under its $26.4 million project to repair and re-deck two U.S. 202 bridges over Amtrak and repair two ramps at the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass Interchange in East Whiteland and West Whiteland townships, Chester County.
The DMS, which will provide motorists with real-time travel information on U.S. 202 and other regional highways, is part of PennDOT's growing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) traffic management operations for the five-county Philadelphia region.
Allan A Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
