PennDOT to Host Open House Meeting for Route 29 (Main Street) Bridge Replacement in Red Hill and Pennsburg Boroughs
King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will hold an open house public plans display on Thursday, October 3, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Pennsburg Municipal Building at 76 West 6th Street in Pennsburg, to inform citizens about an upcoming project to replace and improve the Route 29 (Main Street) bridge between 10th Street and 11th Street in Pennsburg and Red Hill boroughs, Montgomery County.
The purpose of the open house is to present the public with progress plans and a status update on the project. The meeting will be conducted as an open-house plans display where citizens will have the opportunity to circulate among the subject displays to gather information and discuss the different facets of the project with PennDOT's design team.
Under this project, PennDOT will replace the existing bridge, reconstruct the roadway approaches and sidewalk and lower the existing roadway to improve sight distance. The new bridge will also maintain access for a future County shared-use path.
The purpose of the project is to improve mobility and transportation in the area. Route 29 (Main Street) is a vital north-south link through Red Hill and Pennsburg boroughs. Providing a safe and modern transportation facility is essential to meeting the needs for potential future demand.
Construction bids on the project are expected to open in fall 2020. The project is anticipated to be funded with 100 percent state dollars.
