Wolf Administration Announces Work to Begin on Project to Repair and Resurface Nine Miles of State Highway in Bucks County
King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to begin Monday, September 16, on a project to repair and resurface nine miles of state highway in Bucks County.
"Improvement projects like this are vital to the sustainability of our transportation network and the state's overall infrastructure," Governor Tom Wolf said. "Restoring these roadways in Bucks County will help residents go about their daily lives in a more efficient and safe manner."
Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.
On Monday, September 16, through Monday, September 30, weekdays, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, periodic lane closures with flagging are scheduled on Route 232 (2nd Street Pike) between County Line Road and Bristol Road in Upper Southampton Township, Bucks County.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather.
Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract include:
- Route 513 (Hulmeville Road) between Galloway Road and Route 413 (Bellevue Avenue/Durham Road) in Middletown Township and Penndel and Hulmeville boroughs;
- Newportville Road/Main Street between A Avenue and Trenton Avenue/ Route 513 (Hulmville Road) in Middletown and Bristol townships, and Hulmeville Borough; and
- Winchester Avenue between Route 413 (Pine Street) and Bridgetown Pike in Middletown Township and Langhorne Borough.
James D. Morrissey, Inc of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the $4,589,447 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds. Work on the project is expected to be completed in December.
