PennDOT to Repair and Resurface 3.5 Miles Kelly Drive in Philadelphia

4/1/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA

Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, April 4, on a $1.8 million
project
to repair and resurface 3.5 miles of Kelly Drive between 25th Street and
Hunting Park Avenue and the Kelly Drive ramp to Ridge Avenue in
Philadelphia,
the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced.
The
resurfacing project is expected to finish in late May.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT will repair the road base, mill off
the
existing riding surface, and pave Kelly Drive with an ultra-thin friction
course pavement. The fiction course is designed to improve traction and
help
channel storm water off the roadway. Crews will also improve 22 curb ramps.

The contractor will work Monday, April 4, through Saturday, April 9, from
9:30
AM to 3:30 PM and from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM, to mill the deteriorated roadway

surface and install curb ramps. The contractor will continue to work
Mondays
through Saturdays with operations taking place during off-peak hours.

Tony DePaul and Son, of Blue Bell, Montgomery County, is the general
contractor
on the $1,843,749 contract, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
