Emergency Management Partners and Stakeholders: Attached is our latest briefing package from the Nation Weather Service, Mt Holy for a coastal storm this Sunday through Monday night. Notable changes with this briefing package include the issuance of a High Wind Watch for eastern NJ from late Sunday night through Monday afternoon. We also included an icing potential graphic for the southern Poconos as well as update the tidal flooding risk for both high tide cycles on Monday.
Key Updates: A strong offshore storm will bring heavy rain, strong winds, coastal flooding, and at least some potential winter weather to the extreme north and west Sunday and Monday, some rain will linger into Tuesday. Due to the duration of the storm the risk of flash flood and river flooding is low.
Chester County Forecasted Conditions: • Anticipated Timing: Sunday afternoon into Monday night • East Winds Sunday 13-18 mph increasing to 19-24 after midnight. Monday 21-29 mph with gust to 40 mph • Precipitation: 1 ½ -2 inches of rain • Active watches & warnings: Chester County is under a Hazardous Weather Outlook. · Periods of heavy rain Sunday night through Monday night could result in poor drainage flooding. Note: Chester County is also under a Special Weather Statement for Saturday morning until 0900 due to dense fog. Impacts:
· The rain and wind could cause possible power outages, at this time due to uncertainty it is hard to forecast any river or stream flooding. Recommended Preparedness Actions:
• Follow the NWS and local weather forecasts for the latest changes, updates, and information. DES Actions:
