Attached is the latest briefing package from the Nation Weather Service, Mt Holy for a coastal storm this Sunday through Tuesday midday. Major changes to this update include the issuance of a winter storm watch across the Southern Poconos and Northwest New Jersey for 3-5 inches of snow and sleet, mainly on Monday. A flood watch has also been issued for most of northern and eastern New Jersey with concerns of localized and poor drainage flooding issues due to heavy rainfall. Minor coastal flooding and very strong winds are still anticipated with the storm with top gusts from 50-60 mph on Monday.
Key Updates: A strong offshore storm will bring heavy rain, strong winds, coastal flooding, and at least some potential winter weather to the extreme north and west Sunday and Monday, some rain will linger into Tuesday. Rainfall amounts for most of the county have increased back to 1 ½ - 2 inches, with the western edge of the county being in the 1 – 1 ½ inch area. Wind Advisory has been issued of all of Chester County on Monday from 5 am until 4 pm with East winds 20-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
Chester County Forecasted Conditions:
• Anticipated Timing: Sunday afternoon into Tuesday Midday • Northeast Winds today around 8 mph increasing to 18 - 23 Sunday night out of the East. Monday winds from the East around 24 mph with gust to 45 mph. Monday night winds return to the Northeast at 13 -18 mph with gust to 37 mph. Tuesday wind remains from the Northeast around 14 mph. • Precipitation: 1 – 2 inches of rain predicted for the county • Active watches & warnings: Chester County is under a Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Wind Advisory · Periods of heavy rain Sunday night through Monday night could result in poor drainage flooding · Easterly wind gust up to 45 mph are possible Monday Impacts:
· Strong winds may blow down limps, trees, and power lines. Isolated power outages are likely. Strong winds can make it difficult to drive, especially high profile vehicles. Light weight objects like trash cans and patio furniture should be secured.
