The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today
that
lane restrictions are scheduled next week on westbound U.S. 422 between the

Sanatoga and Route 724 interchanges in Lower Pottsgrove Township,
Montgomery
County.

The weather-dependent work schedule is:

• On Monday, January 16, from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed
on westbound U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga and Route 724 interchanges, for
shoulder repair; and
• On Tuesday January 17, through Thursday, January 19, from 7:00 AM to 2:00
PM,
the left lane will be closed on westbound U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga and

Route 724 interchanges, for bridge beam removal.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these
areas as
backups may occur.

The upcoming operations are part of PennDOT's $73.3 million project to
rebuild
1.6 miles of U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga and Route 724 (Schuylkill Road)
interchanges, and construct new bridges over the Schuylkill River and
Norfolk
Southern railroad tracks. Construction on the entire project is scheduled
to
finish in October 2018.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor is building, in phases, new U.S.
422
structures over the Schuylkill River; new U.S. 422 structures over Norfolk
Southern railroad tracks; rebuilding U.S. 422 from the Schuylkill River
bridge
to the Porter Road overpass; installing new median barriers; replacing the
Armand Hammer Boulevard bridge over U.S. 422; improving and realigning
ramps at
the U.S. 422/Armand Hammer Boulevard Interchange; reconstructing and
realigning
the ramp from Route 724 to U.S. 422 east; improving storm water drainage;
erecting three overhead sign structures; installing conduit for future
Intelligent Transportation equipment; and installing new guide rail and
signs.

J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
project that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state
funds.
