Public Safety

  • The forecast calls for sun with a high near 97. Avoid prolonged exposure to sun if you can.

  • If you do not live in an air-conditioned environment, open windows and use fans.
  • Check on your neighbors and family who are elderly, vulnerable or have health conditions. They are more susceptible to heat-related health illnesses.

  • Call 9-1-1 with emergencies. Call 3-1-1 with non-emergencies. 311 has extended hours, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Thursday. 311 also has an app and they are active on twitter: @Philly311

Traffic

  • PennDOT lane restrictions will remain in effect through the DNC for portions of I-95 and I-676. This is so Pennsylvania State Police can enforce the five-ton truck ban. Exit 17 (Broad Street/ Route 11) of I-95 North and South will remain closed throughout the week for the DNC.  Follow marked detour routes. For Interstate Highway travel conditions, visit PennDot's special DNC website www.511pa.com/dnc
  • Public assembly and marches primarily occur on Broad St south of City Hall to the Stadium Complex and Market Street between 5th and 15th Streets. Spontaneous marches can happen anywhere. Confirmed march scheduled for 2pm originating in North Philadelphia at Broad and Diamond and ending at FDR Park. For real-time traffic closures related to the DNC, visit www.phila.gov/DNC or @PhiladelphiaGov on Twitter.
  • Parking restricted in the area surrounding the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Consider SEPTA to travel to Center City destinations.
  • SEPTA's website, www.septa.org, has information on possible delays and detours.
  • Ban on median parking in effect for parking on South Broad between Washington and Packer Avenues. Remains in effect through July 29th – call 215-686-SNOW if your car is towed.
  • Pattison Avenue closed from 20th to 7th Sts and Broad St from packer to the Terminal.

Events

  • Visit the City's special DNC website, www.phila.gov/dnc, to find DNC related things to see and do, and find #DNCDeals.
