PennDOT - District 6 News: New Traffic Pattern, Signalized Intersection in Place Next Month at U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike)/ I-95 Interchange in Bristol Township

An update has been published to District 6 News on the PennDOT website. Please see below for details.

PennDOT - District 6 News

New Traffic Pattern, Signalized Intersection in Place Next Month at U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike)/ I-95 Interchange in Bristol Township

King of Prussia, PA –  U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike) and Interstate 95 motorists will encounter a new traffic pattern and traffic signal at the Delaware Valley interchange (Exit #42) in Bristol Township, Bucks County for reconstruction, realignment and bridge replacement, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work is part of the Pennsylvania Turnpike's I-95 Interchange project and will enhance PennDOT's recently completed improvement along a 4.3-mile stretch of U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike) between Route 413 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Beginning Monday, November 25, a new traffic signal at the interchange will be set to flash and message signs will be deployed to warn motorists that the signal and new traffic pattern will be in place sometime after Wednesday, December 11, through early summer 2020. It will take approximately two days to complete the work in order to open the new access ramps. Once the signalized intersection is in place, northbound U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike) motorists will make a left at the signal to access I-95, while southbound U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike) motorists will make a right at the signal to access I-95.

In addition to the new pattern, starting on Wednesday, December 11, U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike) thru traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction through the signalized intersection area through early summer 2020.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike project includes the total reconstruction and realignment of the two-lane interchange ramp between U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike) and I-95. The contractor will remove the existing ramp bridge over U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike), construct a replacement of the ramp bridge over Elwood Avenue; and install a new signalized intersection with U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike).  A single lane turn-around loop at the new signalized intersection will be used for emergency/authorized vehicles only.

The project also involves the construction of one sound barrier wall, four stormwater management infiltration basins, roadway drainage improvements, signing, pavement markings, roadway/intersection lighting, and utility relocations.

Brintons Bridge/Dilworthtown Road Restricted for Resurfacing Operations in Thornbury Township

King of Prussia, PA – Lane restrictions are scheduled on Brintons Bridge/Dilworthtown Road between Old Wilmington Pike and Westtown Thornton Road in Thornbury Township, Delaware County on Sunday, November 24, and Monday, November 25, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, for paving operations as part of an improvement project to repair and resurface state highways in Delaware County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Allan Myers, LP, of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $2,498,777 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan.

Wolf Administration Announces Completion of Major Improvement Project to Reconstruct 1.2 Miles of U.S. 422 in Pottstown Area

King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that major construction is complete on a project to improve and reconstruct 1.2 miles of U.S. 422 from just east of the Schuylkill River bridge to just west of the Montgomery County line in North Coventry Township, Chester County, West Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, and Douglass Township, Berks County.

"The completion of this project marks another milestone for PennDOT and its mission to reconstruct seven miles of U.S. 422 in Chester and Montgomery counties," Governor Tom Wolf said.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor reconstructed U.S. 422 on both existing and new alignments; reconfigured the U.S. 422/Stowe Interchange to a diamond configuration; removed and replaced the existing ramps and culverts; installed new Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) equipment, message boards, signing, pavement markings, lighting, concrete median barriers, median glare screens and guide rail; upgraded stormwater management facilities and pipes; and constructed and restored wetlands.

While major construction on the project has been completed, the contractor will be performing various post-construction "punch list" activities through the end of the year that may impact U.S. 422 motorists.

H & K Group, Inc. of Schwenksville, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $35,623,017 project which is financed with 100 percent state funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan.

This improvement project is the third of six mainline U.S. 422 projects to be completed under PennDOT's multi-phase program to rebuild and improve seven miles of the expressway between the Berks County line and the Sanatoga Interchange.  For more information on the U.S. 422 program, visit www.422improvements.com.
