(Trooper Road) and First Avenue interchanges in Montgomery and Chester
counties, respectively, on Monday, August 1, through Thursday, August 4,
from
9:00 AM to 2:30 PM, for barrier installation, the Pennsylvania Department
of
Transportation (PennDOT) said today.
PennDOT advises drivers to allow additional time for travel on westbound

Norriton, Upper Merion and Lower Providence townships. The project includes
improving U.S. 422 between the Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and Route 363
(Trooper Road) interchanges; upgrading Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) at its
interchange with U.S. 422; and improving ramps at the Route 363 (Trooper
Road),
Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and First Avenue interchanges. Construction
began
in February 2016 and is scheduled to finish in May 2020.
J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
$97,380,711 contract. The project is financed with 80 percent federal and

counties, respectively, on Monday, August 1, through Thursday, August 4,
from
9:00 AM to 2:30 PM, for barrier installation, the Pennsylvania Department
of
Transportation (PennDOT) said today.
PennDOT advises drivers to allow additional time for travel on westbound
U.S.
422 near the construction area because backups will occur. The contractor's
work schedule is dependent on the weather.
This work is part of the $97.4 million project to build new, wider bridges
to
improve travel and carry U.S. 422 motorists over the Schuylkill River,
Norfolk
Southern Railroad, South Trooper Road and Schuylkill River Trail in West
The project is financed with 80 percent federal and
20
percent state funds.

PennDOT to Work Overnight into Friday to Remove I-95 Commercial Truck Ban and Reopen Exit Ramps at I-95/Broad Street Interchange
PennDOT to Work Overnight into Friday to Remove I-95 Commercial Truck Ban
and Reopen Exit Ramps at I-95/Broad Street Interchange
7/28/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA
Working in coordination with law enforcement agencies following the
conclusion
of the Democratic National Convention, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) will work overnight to remove traffic control
devices
from Interstate 95 in Philadelphia in order to remove the five-ton
commercial
truck restriction and reopen exit ramps at the Broad Street Interchange
(Exit
17) by midday Friday, July 29.
PennDOT crews are prepared to begin removing over 200 traffic control
signs,
portable arrow boards and message boards, and dozens of traffic
channelization
cones from I-95 and nearby regional highways upon receiving notification
from
law enforcement to reopen I-95 to commercial trucks and vehicles over five
tons, to restore the Interstate 676 east ramp to I-95 south to two lanes,
and
to reopen I-95 exit ramps at Broad Street (Exit 17).
The operation to remove all travel restriction from I-95 is expected to
take
several hours to complete, weather permitting. The forecast of rain,
thunderstorms and lightning may affect the length of time it takes to
complete
the full reopening as the safety of PennDOT crews and law enforcement
personnel
is paramount.
I-95 travel restrictions, plus a lane closure on the I-676 east ramp to
I-95
south, have been in place since Saturday, July 23, to support the
Pennsylvania
State Police in its enforcement of the five-ton commercial truck ban, which
is
part of the security plan for the Democratic National Convention at the
Wells
Fargo Center in South Philadelphia.
I-95 north is reduced from three lanes to two at Exit 13 (I-76 West/Route
291/Valley Forge) near the Philadelphia International Airport, and the
adjacent
collector/distributor roadway alongside I-95 north also is restricted to
two
lanes in this area.
On I-95 south, traffic is reduced from 4 lanes to 3 lanes moving through
the
Girard Avenue Interchange toward the I-676 Interchange at Exit 22 (I-676).
The I-676 east exit ramp to I-95 south is reduced from two lanes to one.
PennDOT and its regional transportation partners are using more than 100
permanent and portable electronic message signs to complement more than 200
stationary signs to inform commercial drivers and travelers of I-95
restrictions in Philadelphia during this special event.
To assist residents and visitors before and during the convention, PennDOT
launched www.511PA.com/DNC – a detailed travelers' website. The site's home
page offers options to see information about real-time traffic conditions
on
highways in the Philadelphia region and lists street closures around the
convention venue. This site is accessible from both desktop and mobile
interfaces.
Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by

PennDOT Plans to Open U.S. 202 to 6 Lanes Next Week between Route 401 and U.S. 30 in Chester County
PennDOT Plans to Open U.S. 202 to 6 Lanes Next Week between Route 401 and
U.S. 30 in Chester County
7/28/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) plans to open 2.5
miles
of U.S. 202 to six lanes between the Route 401 and U.S. 30 interchanges in
East
Whiteland Township, Chester County, by mid-to-late next week, substantially
completing construction on a $63.3 million improvement project that began
in
April 2013.
This is the second of PennDOT's two mainline construction contracts for the
expansion of 6.5 miles of U.S. 202 to six lanes in East Whiteland and
Tredyffrin Townships. PennDOT opened four miles of U.S. 202 to six lanes
from
just south of the Route 252 Interchange to just north of the Route 401
Interchange in September 2014. Construction on the first mainline contact,
worth $105.4 million, began in April 2011.
Crews will work Sunday, July 31, through Thursday, August 4, from 8:00 PM
to
5:00 AM to complete line striping and other preparations for opening the
rebuilt and widened expressway to six lanes. The opening caps several weeks
of
nighttime construction by the contractor to complete final operations,
including installation of concrete median barriers, removal of construction
barriers, and repainting traffic lines in the work zone.
Following the opening of U.S. 202 to six lanes, crews will close one lane
in
both directions on U.S. 202 between the Route 29 and U.S. 30 interchanges
from
8:00 PM Friday, August 5, to 10:00 AM Saturday, August 6. The lane closures
will allow the contractor to complete miscellaneous construction items in
the
work area. Crews will continue to work and close lanes on U.S. 202 at night
periodically for the next several weeks to complete miscellaneous
construction
activities in the work zone.
All planned activities are weather permitting.
Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general
contractor
on the $63,381,084 project.
Under this project, PennDOT rebuilt and widened northbound and southbound
U.S.
202 to three lanes in each direction from just north of the Route 401
Interchange to approaching the U.S. 30 Interchange; reconstructed the Route
401
(Conestoga Road) Interchange; rebuilt U.S. 202 bridges over Route 401 and
Planebrook Road; installed a culvert to carry the Chester Valley Trail
under
U.S. 202; upgraded the highway drainage system; and installed sound walls,
Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) components, and new highway signs.
Prior to starting construction to widen this section of Route 202 in 2011,
PennDOT replaced six overhead bridges under two contracts worth $45 million
to
create space needed to expand the expressway. PennDOT also installed
Intelligent Transportation System equipment along the corridor under a
$14.7
million project.
