Hello. This is Lower Providence Township with an important announcement. 

The Township Supervisors will host an Open House on Wednesday, May 9^th to provide information on current and future projects in the Township, including transportation, residential and commercial development, road improvements, and recreation and cultural projects.  More than a dozen exhibitors will be on hand to answer questions about their services or projects, including SEPTA, Greater Valley Forge Transportation association, Bald Birds Brewing, and Lower Providence police and emergency services.

The Open House will be held at 5:00 pm at 2621 Van Buren Avenue in Audubon. There will be signs directing you to a parking lot in the rear of the building. Enter the lot from Jefferson Avenue. The doors will open at 5:00 pm with the formal presentation scheduled to begin at 5:45 pm.

U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) motorists will encounter single lane closures
in
the inner and outer lanes at the Grant Avenue and Red Lion Road
intersections
in Philadelphia, beginning Thursday, May 3, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
through
the end of May, for ADA curb ramp installations, the Pennsylvania
Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

In addition, periodic right lane closures are planned on Grant Avenue and
Red
Lion Road at U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard).

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling on U.S. 1
(Roosevelt
Boulevard) in the work areas because backups and delays will occur during
this
operation.

The work is part of the city's Boulevard Direct project, which included
construction of new bus shelters, plazas and sidewalks along the U.S. 1
(Roosevelt Boulevard) corridor at the intersections of Cottman Avenue
(Route
73), Rhawn Street, Welsh Road, Grant Avenue and Red Lion Road.

A.P. Construction, Inc., of Blackwood, NJ, is the general contractor on the

$2,444,263 million project which is financed with federal and local funds.

The city's project coincided with PennDOT's improvement project to repair
and
resurface 12 miles of the outer lanes on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard)
between
9th Street and the Bucks County line. Under this improvement project,
PennDOT
milled the existing roadway surface and repaved the outside, local lanes
with
new asphalt. The project, which was completed in November 2017, also
included
resurfacing crossover lanes.

Daytime and nighttime lane restrictions are scheduled this week on a pair
of
state highways as part of a project to repair and resurface 20 miles of
state
highway in Philadelphia.

The work schedule is:

• Wednesday, May 2, through Friday, May 4, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane
restrictions are scheduled on Knights Road between U.S. 13 (Frankford
Avenue)
and the bridge over Poquessing Creek, for resurfacing operations; and
• Friday, May 4, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled
on
Academy Road between the Interstate 95 Interchange and Knights Road, for
milling operations.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
areas
because slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the

weather.

Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract
include:

• Erie Avenue between U.S. 13 (Hunting Park Avenue) and Kensington Avenue;
and
• Chew Avenue/Olney Avenue between Mount Airy Avenue and Broad Street
(Route
611).

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway
surface
and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will
seal
the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

James J. Anderson Construction Co., Inc., of Philadelphia, is the general
contractor on the $7,196,303 project, which is financed with 100 percent
state
funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan.

Work on the entire project is expected to be completed in October 2018.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, April 30, through Wednesday, May 2, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane

restrictions are scheduled on Route 472 (Lewisville Road/Hickory Hill Road)

between Route 841 (Chesterville Road) and Freese Road in Elk and East
Nottingham townships, for milling operations;
• Monday, April 30, through Friday, May 4, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane
restrictions are scheduled on Street Road between the Octoraro Creek Bridge
and
Homeville Road in Upper Oxford Township, for paving; and
• Monday, April 30, through Saturday, May 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane
restrictions are scheduled on Route 472 (Lewisville Road/Hickory Hill Road)

Unionville
Road, in Pennsbury, East Marlborough and Pocopson townships; and
• Main Street/Green Street/Swan Road/Upper Valley Road from Route 372 (Main

Street) to the Atglen Borough line.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway
surface
and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will
seal
the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Allan A. Myers, LP, of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general
contractor
on the $6,262,777 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds
from
Act 89, Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan.

Work on the entire project is expected to be completed this summer.

Overnight lane restrictions are scheduled on Allegheny Avenue at its
intersection with U.S. 13 (Hunting Park Avenue) and Germantown Avenue in
Philadelphia, on Monday, April 30, and Tuesday, May 1, from 7:00 PM to 5:00
AM,
for paving operations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT)
announced today. The work is related to a project to improve travel flow
and
safety on a four-and-a-half mile section of Allegheny Avenue between Ridge
Avenue and Tulip Street.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
zone
because slowdowns will occur during construction. The contractor's schedule
is
weather dependent.

As part of this improvement project, PennDOT's contractor is installing new

signal controllers, poles, mast arms, and LED signal heads; optimizing
signal
timing, phasing, and coordination settings; building ADA curb ramps; and
installing pedestrian bump-outs at selected intersections.

The scope of work also includes the installation of street lighting under
overpasses along Allegheny Avenue at 20th Street, 18th Street, Collins
Street
and Witte Street; and new sidewalk, drainage and green stormwater
facilities
along Allegheny Avenue at 32nd Street, 28th Street, 26th Street, Hunting
Park
Avenue/Henry Avenue/30th Street, Germantown Avenue/Sedgley Avenue/11th
Street,
17th Street, 16th Street, Kip Street, B Street, Rosehill Street, Rorer
Street
and Kensington Avenue.

Seravalli, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the $7 million

project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. The entire
project
is scheduled to be completed in the fall.

of state highway in Montgomery County, the Pennsylvania Department of

The work schedule is:

• Sunday, April 29, through Thursday, May 3, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane
restrictions are scheduled on Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) between North
Wales
Road and the Bucks County line in Montgomery and Hatfield townships, for
milling operations; and
• Monday, April 30, through Friday, May 4, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane
restrictions are scheduled on Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) between North

constructing
two shoulder-widening pull-offs; and installing pavement markings, rumble
strips, and guide rail.

In addition, PennDOT's contractor will improve the intersection of Route
100
(Pottstown Pike) and Route 23 (Ridge Road) by constructing a dedicated
northbound left-turn lane as well as updating traffic signals.

on the $5.6 million project, which is financed with 100 percent federal
funds.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today reopened the
bridge carrying White Horse Road over a branch of Pickering Creek in
Schuylkill
Township, Chester County.

Over the last three months, PennDOT's contractor worked to replace the
existing
bridge with a concrete rigid frame structure as well as upgrade all safety
features. The new structure is 13 feet long and 24 feet wide.

The new bridge replaces the single-span, concrete encased steel I-beam
structure, which was built in 1927. That bridge was 11 feet long and 22
feet
wide, and carried an average of 4,671 vehicles a day.

This bridge replacement was performed under PennDOT's $11,766,000 project
to
rehabilitate 10 structurally-deficient bridges in Bucks, Chester,
Montgomery
and Philadelphia counties, and replace six structurally-deficient culverts
in
Bucks, Chester and Delaware counties.

The bridges/culverts currently under construction include:

• Pocopson Road over Pocopson Creek in Pennsbury and Pocopson townships,
Chester County;
• Grubbs Mill Road over Crum Creek in Willistown Township, Chester County;
• Street Road over Octoraro Creek in Upper Oxford Township, Chester County;
and
• MacDade Boulevard over the Muckinipattis Creek in Glenolden Borough,
Delaware
County.

Structures completed under this project include:

• Rocky Ridge Road over a branch of Tohickon Creek in Richland Township,
Bucks
County;
• State Road over a branch of Cooks Creek in Springfield Township, Bucks
County;
• Route 282 (Creek Road) over a branch of Brandywine Creek in East
Brandywine
Township, Chester County;
• Route 113 (Souderton Road) over Mill Creek in Hilltown Township, Bucks
County;
• Henry Avenue over Wissahickon Creek in Philadelphia;
• The historic Loux Covered Bridge over Cabin Run on Carver-Wismer Road in
Bedminster Township, Bucks County;
• Oxford Valley Road over U.S. 1 in Falls, Lower Makefield and Middletown
townships, Bucks County;
• Route 663 (Layfield Road) bridge over Green Lane Reservoir Creek in Upper

Hanover Township, Montgomery County;
• Edenton Road bridge over Rattlesnake Run in Upper Oxford Township,
Chester
County;
• Torresdale Avenue bridge over Academy Road in Philadelphia; and
• Route 82 (Doe Run Road) over a branch of Sucker Run in East Fallowfield
Township, Chester County.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., is the general contractor
on
this project that is financed with 100 percent state funds through Act 89,
Pennsylvania's transportation plan. Work on the entire project is expected
to
be completed in August 2019.

and paving operations as part of a project to repair and resurface 27 miles
of
state highway in Bucks County, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation
(PennDOT) announced today. This Sunday through Thursday operation will
continue
through Thursday, May 24.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
zone
because slowdowns will occur during construction. The contractor's schedule
is

operations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)

today.

The work is part of a project to improve travel and safety along Route 41
(Gap
Newport Pike) on the approach to the Route 841 (Chatham Road) Intersection
by
constructing a gateway at the north and south ends of the Village of
Chatham.
The project is scheduled to be completed in late December.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is widening pavement to provide a
curbed median that will serve as a gateway to the village; updating
signing,
pavement markings and drainage; and installing new guide rail.

This is the first of three projects that PennDOT is advancing to
construction
to improve travel and safety on Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) in Londonderry
and
London Grove townships. The Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike)/Route 841 (Chatham
Road) and Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike)/Route 926 (Street Road) intersection
improvement projects are currently in preliminary design.

Road-Con, Inc. of West Chester, Chester County, is the general contractor
on
the $1,066,126 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20
percent
state funds.

overpass
in the City of Chester, Delaware County, on Monday, April 30, through

activities related to a project to rehabilitate eight bridges over I-95 and
CSX
Railroad in the city, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT)
announced today.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is rehabilitating the multi-span,
steel
girder bridges on Potter Street, Madison Street, Upland Street, Melrose

pedestrian structures. The contractor is also improving the I-95 south exit

ramp at Chestnut Street.

repairing Chestnut Street and Morton Avenue from 12th Street to 4th Street;

upgrading
the traffic signal at Morton Avenue and 7th Street; and reconstructing

Avenue from 7th Street to 4th Street to lower the road under the Amtrak
overpass to increase vertical clearance.

million project which is financed with 100 percent state funds.

Westbound Interstate 76 will be reduced to a single lane between the South
Street and Interstate 676 interchanges in Philadelphia on Monday, April 30,

through Thursday, May 3, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, for

construction on the viaduct carrying Schuylkill Avenue over the expressway
between Walnut Street and Market Street, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route or allow additional time
for
travel on westbound I-76 through the work area because backups and delays
will
occur. All scheduled activities are subject to change depending on weather
conditions.

Construction crews on the $103.6 million project are removing sections of
the
existing concrete deck from the viaduct and repairing or replacing the
viaduct's deteriorated steel deck beams and cross members.

PennDOT is rehabilitating the Chestnut Street bridge over the Schuylkill
River
and seven other nearby structures, including those carrying Schuylkill
Avenue
over I-76 between Walnut Street and Chestnut Street, and between Chestnut
Street and Market Street.

In addition to repairing and repainting the steel superstructure and
replacing
the deck of the main bridge carrying Chestnut Street over the Schuylkill
River
and the two Schuylkill Avenue structures over I-76, the project also
includes:

• Rehabilitating two structures on the Interstate 76 on-and-off-ramps
between
Chestnut Street and Walnut Street;
• Resurfacing Chestnut Street from 31st Street to 30th Street, and from

• Constructing wider sidewalks and installing decorative barrier and
railings
on the Chestnut Street and Schuylkill Avenue bridges;
• Rehabilitating a 900-foot section of the river wall structure between
I-76
and the Schuylkill River from Market Street and Walnut Street;
• Rehabilitating a 15-foot section of the retaining wall supporting the
Schuylkill River Trail under Chestnut Street;
• Installing new traffic signals, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS)
equipment, and street lighting along Chestnut Street between 31st Street
and
23rd Street;
• Replacing millennium lighting on Chestnut Street over the Schuylkill
River;
• Constructing a new trellis at the Chestnut Street Trailhead to the
Schuylkill
River Trail;
• Restriping pavement markings for a bicycle lane on Chestnut Street
between
34th Street and 22nd Street; and
• Installing a new clear acrylic barrier along Amtrak Northeast Corridor
tracks
located on the west side of Schuylkill Avenue West between Chestnut Street
and
Walnut Street.

The bridges on Chestnut Street and Schuylkill Avenue West will be under
construction concurrently and will remain open for most of the project.
There
will be various lane and sidewalk restrictions during the three stages of
construction that will require shifts in travel lane and sidewalk
configurations.

Approximately midway through the project, a detour will be in place for
about
one year on Chestnut Street from Schuylkill Avenue West to 23rd Street for
the
rehabilitation of the structurally deficient bridge carrying Chestnut
Street
over the CSX rail lines.

The Schuylkill River Trail will be closed below Chestnut Street for
approximately three months over the winter of 2018-2019 for repairs.

In addition, the on-and-off-ramps at the I-76 Interchange between Chestnut
Street and Walnut Street will be restricted to a single lane of traffic
during
construction. There will also be nighttime and weekend full closures of the

ramps during certain construction operations.

Buckley & Company Inc., of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the
project, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state
funds.
The entire project is scheduled to finish in fall 2020.
