Route 724 (Schuylkill Road) Bridge over Eckers Creek Closed Due to Flood Damage in North Coventry Township

King of Prussia, PA – The bridge carrying Route 724 (Schuylkill Road) over Eckers Creek between Catfish Lane and Sheep Hill Road in North Coventry Township, Chester County, was closed today due to severe damage sustained from recent flooding events, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Bridge engineers are examining the extent of the damage and will develop a plan to repair the bridge.

During the closure, Route 724 (Schuylkill Road) motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route. Local access will be maintained up to the bridge closure.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area because backups and delays may occur.

The Route 724 (Schuylkill Road) bridge over Eckers Creek was built in 1927. The single span, two-lane reinforced concrete slab bridge is 18 feet long, 26 feet wide and carries approximately 7,757 vehicles a day.

I-76 West to Close at Night Next Week at 30th Street for Viaduct Construction in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – Westbound Interstate 76 at 30th Street or the westbound off-ramp to 30th Street will be closed alternately on Monday, October 4, through Friday, October 8, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for viaduct construction in Center City Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

When westbound I-76 is closed, traffic will be detoured to the off-ramp at 30th Street and follow Schuylkill Avenue to the ramp back to westbound I-76 at Market Street.

When the westbound off-ramp to 30th Street is closed, westbound I-76 also will be reduced to one lane between 30th Street and Interstate 676. Off-ramp traffic will be detoured east on I-676, exit at 23rd Street, turn left on 22nd Street to the ramp to I-676 west, then take the ramp to I-76 east and the exit at 30th Street.

The lane and ramp closures will allow crews to install drainage components on the rehabilitated Schuylkill Avenue viaduct over the expressway.

Drivers are advised to use alternate routes or allow extra time when traveling through the work area because significant backups and delays will occur.  All operations are weather dependent. 

Repairs to the overhead viaduct are part of PennDOT's $103.6 million project to rehabilitate the Chestnut Street bridge over the Schuylkill River and eight other nearby structures, including those carrying Schuylkill Avenue over I-76 between Walnut Street and Market Street. U.S. 422 Lane Closures, Full Closure Planned Next Week for Bridge Construction in Lower Pottsgrove Township

King of Prussia, PA – Eastbound and westbound U.S. 422 will encounter a lane closure prior to a full overnight closure next week between the Armand Hammer Boulevard and Sanatoga interchanges for bridge demolition under a project to replace the structures that carry Park Road and Pleasantview Road over the expressway in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Tuesday, October 5, and Wednesday, October 6, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, a left lane closure will be in place on U.S. 422 in both directions; and
• Tuesday, October 5, and Wednesday, October 6, from 10:00 PM to 5:00AM the following morning, U.S. 422 will be closed and detoured in both directions.

During the overnight closure, eastbound U.S. 422 motorists will be directed to use Armand Hammer Boulevard and High Street to access the expressway at Rupert Road. Westbound U.S. 422 motorists will be directed to exit at the Sanatoga Interchange and use High Street and Armand Hammer Boulevard to access the expressway.

U.S. 422 motorists are advised to use an allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The replacement of the Pleasantview Road and Park Road bridges over U.S. 422 is an advance contract prior to starting the project to reconstruct U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road.

H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the $7.1 million project, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds. The entire project is expected to finish in late 2022.

King of Prussia, PA – Northbound and southbound Route 309 (Sellersville Bypass) motorists will encounter a lane closure between Route 563 (Ridge Road) and Route 152 (State Road) in West Rockhill Township, Bucks County, on Monday, October 4, through Friday, October 8, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning for barrier placement under a project to rehabilitate the pavement and repair several structures on a 9.1-mile section of the expressway, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

As Stage 2 construction advances through winter 2021 and spring 2022, Route 309 (Sellersville Bypass) drivers can expect to encounter periodic off-peak daytime and nighttime lane closures at several locations between Route 563 (Ridge Road) and Route 152 (State Road) for various construction activities.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor will reconstruct and rehabilitate the Route 309 corridor (Sellersville Bypass) from Unionville Pike in Hatfield Township, Montgomery County, to just north of Rich Hill Road in Richland Township, Bucks County. The improvement plan includes the following:

• Milling and overlay;
• Reconstructing shoulders;
• Installing new guide rail and median barrier;
• Replacing two bridge superstructures;
• Rehabilitating eight Route 309 bridges, four overhead bridges and four culverts;
• Repairing concrete ditches;
• Installing drainage improvements, new pavement markings and signs; and
• Integrating Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).

James D. Morrissey, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds. The entire project is scheduled to finish in summer 2024.

I-95 Single, Double Lane Closures Scheduled Next Week for Construction in Delaware County

King of Prussia, PA – Interstate 95 motorists will encounter single and double lane closures in both directions next week at several locations between the Route 452 (Market Street) and Route 420 (Wanamaker Avenue) interchanges for various construction activities under a project to rehabilitate pavement and repair 15 structures on more than 11 miles of the interstate in Lower Chichester, Upper Chichester, Chester, Ridley and Tinicum townships, the City of Chester and Upland and Ridley Park boroughs, Delaware County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, October 4, through Thursday, October 7, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and from 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM, a single lane closure will be in place in sections on northbound and southbound I-95;
• Monday, October 4, through Thursday, October 7, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a double lane closure will be in place in sections on northbound and southbound I-95;
• Friday, October 8, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM, a single lane closure will be in place in sections on northbound and southbound I-95; and
• Friday, October 8, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a double lane closure will be in place in sections on northbound and southbound I-95.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor will mill, overlay and rehabilitate the existing concrete pavement including 41 ramps; perform minor structural repairs to 15 of the 33 bridges located in the project limits; repair sections of median barrier; upgrade guide rail; install new pavement markings, delineators and rumble strips; repair and clean existing inlets and pipes; and replace damaged or missing traffic signs. The Pennsylvania Welcome Center just north of the Delaware state line also will be improved with concrete base repairs and new parking stripes, pavement markings and signs.

Allan A. Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the $68.4 million project, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds. The entire project is expected to be completed in late 2023.

Route 372 (Lower Valley Road) Daytime Lane Closure Next Week for Tree Removal in Atglen Borough, West Sadsbury Township

King of Prussia, PA – Route 372 (Lower Valley Road) motorists will encounter a weekday lane closure approaching the Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) Intersection on Wednesday, October 6, through Thursday, October 14, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for tree removal operations under a project to replace the bridge that carries Route 372 (Lower Valley Road) over Officers Run in Atglen Borough and West Sadsbury Township, Chester County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur due to these operations. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Originally built in 1937, the existing two-span reinforced concrete slab bridge is listed in poor condition, showing extensive cracking and other damage. The new Route 372 (Lower Valley Road) structure will be a single-span prestressed concrete composite adjacent box beam bridge which includes approach roadway construction.

The purpose of this project is to provide a long-term transportation facility that is structurally sound, capable of handling the volume of expected traffic along this state highway and to ensure a safe and efficient crossing along a locally important network.

This project also includes the realignment and restriping of the Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) painted median and replacement of the traffic signal at the Route 372 (Lower Valley Road) and Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) intersection. Other project improvements include pipe culvert installation, aerial and underground gas utility relocations and wetland enhancements.

During construction, a stream crossing and temporary roadway with a reduced speed of 25 mph will be constructed adjacent to the existing bridge to accommodate temporary two-way traffic.

Additionally, short-term lane closures and traffic signal adjustments at the intersection of Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) and Route 372 (Lower Valley Road) will also be utilized during construction.

Mumford and Miller Concrete, Inc., of Middletown, Delaware is the general contractor on the $2.9 million project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. The entire project is scheduled to finish in spring 2023.

King of Prussia, PA – Southbound U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) motorists will encounter a 24/7 lane closure between U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike) and Hoffman Mill Road on Sunday, October 3, through Saturday, October 9, for concrete patching under a project to repair and resurface approximately six miles of U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) in Chadds Ford and Concord townships, Delaware County and Pennsbury Township, Chester County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur due to these operations. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor will mill, overlay and rehabilitate the existing pavement; perform concrete patching and concrete base repair as needed; construct new concrete curbed median; install new pavement markings, rumble strips, delineators and signs; and upgrade guiderail and curb ramps.

King of Prussia, PA – Lane closures are scheduled on Girard Avenue (U.S. 30) in both directions between 34th Street and 38th Street for milling and paving under a project to replace the structure that carries four lanes of traffic and the SEPTA Route 15 trolley over CSX railroad tracks in the Parkside neighborhood of Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, October 11, through Friday, October 15, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning; and
• Monday, October 11, through Friday, October 29, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The scope of work on this project includes replacement of the bridge superstructure, rehabilitation of the stone support abutments and construction of a dedicated right turn lane on the eastbound Interstate 76 ramp to Girard Avenue (U.S. 30). The SEPTA trolley tracks will also be replaced across the bridge.

Neshaminy Constructors Inc. is the general contractor on the $4.2 million project, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.

Rebuilt I-95 Southbound Lanes, New Ramp at Girard Avenue Interchange to Open Saturday in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA - Motorists will encounter a number of travel restrictions on southbound Interstate 95 in Philadelphia this week between the Allegheny Avenue and Interstate 676 interchanges for construction activities to open the rebuilt southbound lanes and the new southbound off-ramp at the Girard Avenue Interchange by the end of the week, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule and locations are:

• Wednesday, September 29, and Thursday, September 30, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, lane closures and periodic 15-minute traffic stoppages will be in place on southbound I-95 at various locations between the Betsy Ross Bridge and I-676 interchanges for overhead sign installations;
• Friday, October 1, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a double lane closure and periodic 15-minute traffic stoppages will be in place on southbound I-95 between the Betsy Ross Bridge and I-676 interchanges for shifting the southbound traffic pattern between the Allegheny Avenue and Girard Avenue interchanges; and
• Friday, October 1, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the Aramingo Avenue ramp to southbound I-95 at the Girard Avenue Interchange and the Allegheny Avenue ramp to southbound I-95 will be closed during the changing of the southbound I-95 traffic pattern. Traffic normally using both ramps will be detoured south on Aramingo Avenue and south on Delaware Avenue to Callowhill Street, 2nd Street and the southbound on-ramp at Market Street.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel through the work zones because significant delays are expected. All scheduled activities are weather permitting.

At the completion of this week's work, the southbound I-95 off-ramp at Girard Avenue will re-open, and motorists on southbound I-95 will remain on the southbound side of the interstate on three reconstructed through-lanes between Allegheny Avenue and Girard Avenue. Northbound I-95 will remain in its current three-lane traffic pattern for the remainder of the year.

Work on the $312 million Section GR4 project got underway in August 2018, to reconstruct southbound I-95 between the Allegheny Avenue and Girard Avenue interchanges and the southbound ramps at Girard Avenue.

During the past three years of construction, PennDOT has rebuilt and widened southbound I-95, including replacement of the mile-long southbound viaduct between Ann Street and Palmer Street, rebuilt the southbound off- and on-ramps, and installed noise barrier walls along southbound I-95.

Additional mainline construction will continue with periodic, temporary daytime and off-peak traffic patterns on both northbound and southbound I-95 through mid-2022.

The southbound off-ramp at Girard Avenue was closed and detoured in July 2019 for reconstruction. The new southbound on-ramp was rebuilt in stages and remained open to traffic during the entirety of GR4 construction.

Section GR4 also includes installation of a new stormwater drainage system and construction of sustainable enhancements to the interchange area adjacent to and beneath I-95.  Those improvements, which will remain under construction through next summer, include a section of multi-use trail; installation of LED street and understructure lighting; the use of thematic formliners for decorative treatments of bridge and abutment walls; integrated drainage facilities; and creation of a number of public spaces and parking areas.

Route 32 (River Road) Bridge Remains Closed in Upper Makefield Township

King of Prussia, PA – The bridge carrying Route 32 (River Road) over a branch of the Delaware River between Lurgan Road and Barlow Ridge Road in Upper Makefield Township, Bucks County, remains closed due to severe undermining of the bridge's stone masonry support abutments discovered during a post-flood inspection, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. The bridge was closed on Thursday, September 23.

During the closure, Route 32 (River Road) motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour.

The bridge will remain closed until PennDOT engineers assess the extent of the damage and develop a plan to repair the structure. 

The Route 32 (River Road) bridge was built in 1870. The single-span, stone masonry arch bridge is 12 feet long, 28 feet wide and carries approximately 6,370 vehicles per day.

U.S. 1 Periodic Nighttime Lane Closures, Traffic Stoppages Next Week for Construction in Bucks County

King of Prussia, PA - Periodic northbound and southbound single lane closures and 15-minute traffic stoppages may be in place on Monday, September 27, through Thursday, September 30, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM on U.S. 1 in Bucks County for construction between the Pennsylvania Turnpike interchange in Bensalem Township and the Penndel/Business U.S.1 Interchange in Middletown Township, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

During the periodic lane closures and 15-minute traffic stoppages on U.S.1, Bristol Road also will be closed between Neshaminy Boulevard and Old Lincoln Highway. The stoppages and closures are required as crews conduct controlled blasting to remove rock from the embankments along U.S. 1 where widening will take place.

Periodic lane restrictions also may be in place Sunday, September 26, through Friday, October 1, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning for construction on northbound and southbound U.S. 1 between Old Lincoln Highway and the turnpike interchange and on eastbound and/or westbound Street Road (Route 132) between Old Lincoln Highway and Kingston Way in Bensalem Township.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Crews are reconstructing and widening almost three miles of roadway, improving the interchanges, and constructing several new bridges — including new structures over the Neshaminy Creek and over rail lines near the Penndel exit — under two contracts (RC1, RC2) to rebuild, widen and improve U.S.1 in Bucks County.

JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA, is the general contractor on the $110.8 million Section RC2 project that is scheduled be completed in mid-2026. Alan Myers Construction, of Worcester, PA, is the general contractor on the $95 million Section RC1 project that is expected to be completed in mid-2022.

Sections RC1 and RC2 are two of the three construction contracts to rebuild and widen U.S. 1; replace aging bridges; and install safety enhancements along a four-mile section of the expressway from just north of Philadelphia to just north of Route 413 (Pine Street) in Middletown Township and Langhorne Borough. King of Prussia, PA – Cobbs Creek Parkway is among several state highways where motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures in Philadelphia, Chester, and Bucks counties on Monday, September 27, through Friday, October 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for delineator installation and line striping under a project to install safety enhancements to improve travel and reduce high-speed crashes across the five-county Philadelphia region, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work locations are:

• Cobbs Creek Parkway between Church Lane and Spruce Street in Philadelphia for line striping and delineator installation;
• Route 272 (West Christine Road) at the Cemetery Road/Union Square Road Intersection in West Nottingham Township, Chester County for delineator installation;
• Route 896 (Newark Road) between Mill House Drive/Hess Mill Road and Walnut Glen Road/Pennbrook Drive in New London and Franklin townships, Chester County for delineator installation; and
• Route 532 (Washington Crossing Road) at the Dolington Road Intersection in Upper Makefield Township, Bucks County for delineator installation.

Kuharchik Construction, INC. of Exeter, is the general contractor on this $5,996,57 project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. Work on the entire project is expected to be completed in spring 2023.

The work locations are:

• Interstate 95, in both directions, at the Route 63 (Woodhaven Road) Interchange in Bensalem, Bucks County;
• Route 63 (Woodhaven Road) between the I-95 Interchange and Millbrook Road in Bensalem Township, Bucks County and Philadelphia;
• Route 29 (Gravel Pike) between Ott Road and Route 73 (Big Road) in Perkiomen and Lower Frederick townships, and Schwenksville Borough, Montgomery County;
• Route 363 (Valley Forge Road) between Germantown Pike and Sumneytown Pike in Upper Gwynedd, Towamencin, and Worcester townships, Montgomery County; and

King of Prussia PA – Interstate 95 is among several state highways to be restricted in Bucks, Philadelphia, and Montgomery counties for bridge and overhead sign inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedules and locations are:

• Monday, September 27, through Wednesday, September 29, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on I-95 between the Interstate 276 and the Route 132 (Street Road) interchanges in Bristol Township, Bucks County for overhead sign inspection;
• Monday, September 27, through Wednesday, September 29, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on I-95 between the I-276 and the Business U.S. 1 (Lincoln Highway) interchanges in Middletown Township, Bucks County for overhead sign inspection;
• Monday, September 27, through Friday, October 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on the northbound deck on the I-95 Girard Point Bridge between the Enterprise Avenue and Broad Street interchanges in Philadelphia for bridge inspection; and
• Tuesday, September 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled in both directions on Chemical Road between Ridge Pike and Gallagher Road in Plymouth Meeting Township, Montgomery County for bridge inspection.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and slowdowns may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges and overhead signs at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.

King of Prussia, PA – Interstate 95 and Interstate 476 are among several state highways to be restricted in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties for resurfacing operations, as a part of several projects to repair and resurface more than 200 miles of state highways across the five-county Philadelphia region, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedules and locations are:

Chester County

• Sunday, September 26, through Friday, October 1, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, a lane closure is scheduled in both directions on U.S. 202 between the Route 100 overpass and the U.S. 30/Frazer Interchange in West Goshen, East Goshen, and West Whiteland townships for micro surfacing operations.

Delaware County

• Sunday, September 26, through Friday, October 1, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, a lane closure is scheduled on southbound I-476 between the U.S. 1 and Interstate 76 interchanges in Lower Merion Township and West Conshohocken Borough in
• Montgomery County and Radnor, Haverford and Marple townships in Delaware County for micro surfacing operations; and
• Monday, September 27, through Friday, October 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Bishop Hollow Road between Gradyville Road and Hempstead Road in Newtown Township for high friction surface treatment operations.

Montgomery County

• Monday, September 27, through Friday, October 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Neiffer Road between Game Farm Road and Route 73 (Big Road) in Upper Frederick, Lower Frederick, and Limerick townships for milling and paving operations.

Philadelphia

Under these improvement projects, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

The closure will remain in place weekdays and Saturdays, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, through Tuesday, October 12.

During the closure, Route 232 (Windy Bush Road) motorists will be directed to use Aquetong Road and Route 32 (River Road). Local access will be maintained during the operation.

I-76 Restricted Weeknights for Overhead Sign Maintenance in Montgomery, Philadelphia Counties

King of Prussia PA – Interstate 76 motorists traveling in both directions will encounter periodic lane closures on Monday, September 27, through Friday, October 1, between 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM in Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties, as part of a project to conduct overhead sign maintenance across the Philadelphia region, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work locations are:

• Eastbound I-76 at the U.S. 202/U.S. 422 Interchange in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County;
• I-76 in both directions at the southbound Interstate 476 Interchange in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County;
• I-76 in both directions at the at the northbound I-476 Interchange in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County;
• Westbound I-76 at the Route 23 Interchange in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County;
• Westbound I-76 at the southbound U.S.1 (City Avenue) Interchange in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County;
• I-76 in both directions at the northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) Interchange in Philadelphia;
• Eastbound I-76 at the Montgomery Drive Interchange in Philadelphia;
• Eastbound I-76 at the U.S. 30/Girard Avenue Interchange in Philadelphia;
• Eastbound I-76 at the Spring Garden Street Interchange in Philadelphia;
• Eastbound I-76 at the Interstate 676 (Vine Street Expressway) Interchange in Philadelphia;
• Westbound I-76 at the South Street Interchange in Philadelphia; and
• Westbound I-76 at the 30th Street Interchange in Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Kriger Construction, Inc. of Scranton, PA, is the general contractor on this $2.9 million project to repair and replace overhead and large signs.

U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) Periodic Lane Closures at Night for Viaduct Rehabilitation in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA - Nighttime lane closures and traffic slowdowns will be in place periodically on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) in both directions for construction at the Fox Street overpass and on the Wayne Junction Viaduct over SEPTA tracks and the Nicetown neighborhood in North Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
 
The restrictions may occur: 

• Southbound, Mondays through Fridays, periodically from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning; and
• Northbound, Mondays through Fridays, periodically from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Current work to rehabilitate and redeck the southbound outer lane and shoulder of the mile-long viaduct and repair the Fox Street overpass will continue until spring 2022 before construction shifts to the northbound side of the structure. The entire project is expected to be completed in spring 2024.

South State, Inc. of Bridgeton, N.J. is the general contractor on the $90.7 million project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.

I-95 Single, Double Lane Closures Scheduled Next Week for Construction in Delaware County

King of Prussia, PA – Interstate 95 motorists will encounter single and double lane closures in both directions next week at several locations between the Delaware state line and Route 420 (Wanamaker Avenue) for various construction activities under a project to rehabilitate pavement and repair 15 structures on more than 11 miles of the interstate in Lower Chichester, Upper Chichester, Chester, Ridley and Tinicum townships, the City of Chester and Upland and Ridley Park boroughs, Delaware County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, September 27, through Thursday, September 30, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and from 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM, a single lane closure will be in place in sections on northbound and southbound I-95;
• Monday, September 27, through Thursday, September 30, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a double lane closure will be in place in sections on northbound and southbound I-95;
• Friday, October 1, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM, a single lane closure will be in place in sections on northbound and southbound I-95; and
• Friday, October 1, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a double lane closure will be in place in sections on northbound and southbound I-95;
• Saturday, October 2, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM, a single lane closure will be in place in sections on northbound I-95; and
• Saturday, October 2, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a double lane closure will be in place in sections on northbound I-95.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor will mill, overlay and rehabilitate the existing concrete pavement including 41 ramps; perform minor structural repairs to 15 of the 33 bridges located in the project limits; repair sections of median barrier; upgrade guide rail; install new pavement markings, delineators and rumble strips; repair and clean existing inlets and pipes; and replace damaged or missing traffic signs. The Pennsylvania Welcome Center just north of the Delaware state line also will be improved with concrete base repairs and new parking stripes, pavement markings and signs.

Allan A. Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the $68.4 million project, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds. The entire project is expected to be completed in late 2023.

King of Prussia, PA – Northbound and southbound U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) motorists will encounter a left lane closure 24/7 between U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike) and Hoffman Mill Road on Sunday, September 26, through Saturday, October 2, for concrete patching under a project to repair and resurface approximately six miles of U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) in Chadds Ford and Concord townships, Delaware County and Pennsbury Township, Chester County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur due to these operations. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor will mill, overlay and rehabilitate the existing pavement; perform concrete patching and concrete base repair as needed; construct new concrete curbed median; install new pavement markings, rumble strips, delineators and signs; and upgrade guiderail and curb ramps.

Allan Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $13.7 million project, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.

I-476 Among State Highways Restricted Next Week for Resurfacing Operations in Philadelphia Region

King of Prussia, PA – Interstate 476 is among several state highways to be restricted in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties for resurfacing operations, as a part of several projects to repair and resurface more than 200 miles of state highways across the five-county Philadelphia region, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedules and locations are:

Chester County

• Tuesday, September 21, through Friday, September 24, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) between Route 10 (Limestone Road) and Fallowfield Road in West Fallowfield Township for milling operations; and
• Tuesday, September 21, through Friday, September 24, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, a lane closure is scheduled in both directions on U.S. 202 between the Route 100 overpass and the U.S. 30/Frazer Interchange in West Goshen, East Goshen, and West Whiteland townships for micro surfacing operations.

Delaware County

• Monday, September 20, through Friday, September 24, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Bishop Hollow Road between Gradyville Road and Hempstead Road in Newtown Township for high friction surface treatment operations; and
• Tuesday, September 21, through Friday, September 24, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, a lane closure is scheduled on southbound I-476 between the U.S. 1 and Interstate 76 interchanges in Lower Merion Township and West Conshohocken Borough in Montgomery County and Radnor, Haverford and Marple townships in Delaware County for micro surfacing operations.

Montgomery County

• Monday, September 20, through Friday, September 24, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Lansdale Avenue between Manor Drive and Vilsmeier Road in Montgomery Township for high friction surface treatment operations; and
• Monday, September 20, through Friday, September 24, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Neiffer Road between Game Farm Road and Route 73 (Big Road) in Upper Frederick, Lower Frederick, and Limerick townships for milling and paving operations.

Philadelphia

• Monday, September 20, through Friday, September 24, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a lance closure is scheduled in both directions on Kelly Drive between West Hunting Park Avenue and Ferry Road for milling and paving operations;
• Monday, September 20, through Friday, September 24, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 232 (Oxford Avenue) between Oxford Circle and the Montgomery County line for prepping operations; and
• Monday, September 20, through Friday, October 8, weekdays from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a lane closure is scheduled on Essington Avenue between Bartram Avenue and Passyunk Avenue for line striping, milling, and paving operations.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under these improvement projects, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.
