U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) Lane Closures, Traffic Paces at Night Next Week for Viaduct Rehabilitation in Philadelphia
King of Prussia, PA – Periodic lane closures and traffic paces will be in place next week on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) in both directions between Fox Street and 17th Street for concrete placement on the Wayne Junction Viaduct over the SEPTA tracks and the Nicetown neighborhood in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule and locations are:
- Southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway), Monday, June 6, through Friday, June 10, from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning; and
- Northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway), Monday, June 6, through Friday, June 10, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning.
In addition, a section of Fox Street will be closed between Queen Lane and Roberts Avenue on Monday, June 6, through Friday, June 10, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for construction on the bridge that carries Fox Street over U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway).
During the overnight closure, Fox Street motorists will be directed to use Queen Lane, Henry Avenue and Roberts Avenue. Local access will be maintained up to the bridge closure for residents and businesses.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
South State, Inc. of Bridgeton, N.J. is the general contractor on the $92.4 million project, which is financed with 80% federal and 20% state funds. More project information is available at www.us1wav.com.
Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com or downloading the 511PA mobile application. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
