Bridge Inspections Scheduled on I-95, I-76 and Other State Highways in Philadelphia, Montgomery, Delaware Counties
King of Prussia PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge inspections are scheduled next week on Interstate 95, I-76, and other state highways in Philadelphia, Montgomery, and Delaware counties.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Wednesday, November 20, and Thursday, November 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a left lane closure is scheduled on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) at the I-76 Interchange in Philadelphia.
- Thursday, November 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a moving lane closure is scheduled on westbound I-76 between the U.S. 202/U.S. 422 and the PA Turnpike interchanges in Upper Merion Township. Montgomery County.
- Thursday, November 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on U.S. 422 between the Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and the U.S. 202 interchanges in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County.
- Thursday, November 21, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a moving left lane closure is scheduled on southbound I-476 between the Norristown and the U.S. 30/Villanova interchanges in Plymouth and Lower Merion townships and West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County, and Radnor Township, Delaware County.
- Friday, November 22, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, alternating lane closures are scheduled on southbound I-95 at the Bartram Avenue/Essington Avenue Interchange in Philadelphia.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.
Motorists can check conditions on major roadways including color-coded winter conditions, by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
