PennDOT to Resurface Route 29 (Gravel Pike) in Perkiomen Township
4/8/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA
Route 29 (Gravel Pike) will be reduced to one lane weekdays between Church
Lane
and High School Drive in Perkiomen Township, Montgomery County, from
Thursday,
April 14, to Tuesday, April 19, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for resurfacing,
the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced.
The resurfacing of Route 29 (Gravel Pike) is being performed in advance of
the
opening of the Graterford Road bridge. The new pavement on Route 29 (Gravel
Pike) will tie into the new asphalt pavement on Graterford Road.
The Graterford Road bridge over the Perkiomen Creek in Perkiomen and
Skippack
townships, Montgomery County, is scheduled to reopen on April 22 after
undergoing a major rehabilitation. The bridge was closed in June 2014 due
to
severe structural deterioration.
The resurfacing and bridge rehabilitation work are part of a $6.8 million
project to rehabilitate three structurally-deficient bridges in Bucks and
Montgomery counties, three structurally-deficient culverts in Bucks County,
and
to stabilize a stream embankment at a bridge in Bucks County.
This transportation improvement project is financed with 100 percent state
funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania's transportation plan.
All work on the $6,824,000 project is scheduled to be completed in late
2018.
The general contractor is Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J.
