Travel Restrictions Scheduled in Philadelphia for Bridge Inspections

Travel restrictions are scheduled over the next week for a series of bridge
inspections in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT) today announced.
Weather permitting, the bridge inspection schedule is:
• On Monday, February 22, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed on Walnut Lane south between Wissahickon Avenue and Morris Street;
• On Monday, February 22, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the right lane will be
closed on Interstate 95 north between Grant Avenue and Ashburner Road. The
left
lane will be closed from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM;
• On Monday, February 22, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed on I-95 south between Ashburner Road and Grant Avenue;
• On Tuesday, February 23, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM,
the
right lane will be closed on Interstate 95 north between Cottman Avenue and
Academy Road. The southbound right lane will be closed from 11:00 AM to
1:00 PM;
• On Tuesday, February 23, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed on Whitaker Avenue north between East Loudon Street and East Ruscomb
Street, the southbound right lane will be closed from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM;
• On Tuesday, February 23, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed on I-95 south between Interstate 676 and Broad Street (Route 611);
• On Wednesday, February 24 and Thursday, February 25, from 9:00 AM to 3:00
PM,
the right lane will be closed on the Penrose Avenue (Route 291) on-ramp to
I-95
south;
• On Friday, February 26, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, one lane will be closed
on
the Betsy Ross Bridge ramp to I-95 south;
• On Saturday, February 27, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, one lane will be
closed on
the Betsy Ross Bridge ramp to I-95 south;
• On Saturday, February 27, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed on the Penrose Avenue (Route 291)/Platt Bridge west between 26th
Street
and Bartram Avenue.
Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel where the
inspections
take place. The inspection schedules are dependent on the weather.
The bridge inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect state
bridges
at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and
overall
condition of the structures.
