I-95 Night Travel Restrictions at Cottman Avenue and Betsy Ross Bridge

A series of nighttime travel restrictions are scheduled through next week
on
Interstate 95 for construction at the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) and Betsy
Ross
Bridge interchanges in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The upcoming work schedule is:
• Monday, November 28, through Friday, December 2, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM
the
following morning, the Princeton Avenue on-ramp to I-95 north will be
closed
periodically for ramp resurfacing. Motorists will be detoured north on
State
Road, then left on Linden Avenue and right on the ramp to I-95 north at the
Academy Road Interchange. Drivers also may access I-95 north by going north
on
State Road, then right on Bleigh Avenue and right on Milnor Street to the
spur
ramp to I-95 north;
• Monday, November 28, through Friday, December 2, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM
the
following morning, the I-95 north off-ramp to Cottman Avenue (Route 73)
will be
closed periodically for ramp widening activities. Motorists will be
detoured
north on I-95 to the exit at the Academy Road Interchange, then right on
Linden
Avenue, and right on State Road to Cottman Avenue (Route 73);
• Monday, November 28, through Friday, December 2, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM
the
following morning, alternating northbound and southbound lane closures will
be
in place periodically on I-95 between the Academy Road and Bridge Street
interchanges for removal of overhead signs and repairs to drainage pipes;
and
• Wednesday, November 30, through Friday, December 2, from 8:00 PM to 5:00
AM
the following morning, I-95 north and south will be reduced periodically
from
three lanes to two lanes at the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue
Interchange
for construction of ramp support piers in the median.
Due to the holiday, construction on Monday, November 28, will start at 9:00
PM
instead of 8:00 PM.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time for travel on I-95 through the work
zones. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The work is associated with contracts underway to improve the ramp system
at
the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue Interchange and to rebuild and
improve
the Cottman Avenue Interchange and reconstruct and widen more than one mile
of
I-95 adjoining the interchange.
