I-95 Nighttime Lane, Ramp Restrictions Next Week at Girard Avenue and Betsy
Ross Bridge Interchanges in Philadelphia

Motorists on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia will encounter lane and ramp
restrictions next week at the Girard Avenue and Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo
Avenue interchanges for construction, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule is:
• Monday, November 6, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a double lane closure is
scheduled on northbound I-95 at the Girard Avenue Interchange for overhead
sign
structure installation. The operation will reduce northbound I-95 to a
single
through lane between the Girard Avenue and Allegheny Avenue interchanges;
• Tuesday, November 7, and Wednesday, November 8, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM,
the
right lane is scheduled to close on southbound I-95 at the Betsy Ross
Bridge/Aramingo Avenue Interchange for removal of an overhead sign
structure;
and
• Tuesday, November 7, and Wednesday, November 8, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM,
a
single lane closure is planned on the ramp from northbound I-95 to the
Betsy
Ross Bridge for sign structure installation.
In addition to the travel restrictions on mainline I-95, Girard Avenue will
be
closed between Fletcher Street and Richmond Street, on Monday, November 6,
and
Tuesday, November 7, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM for demolition of the inside
section of the old northbound I-95 viaduct at the Girard Avenue
Interchange.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling on I-95 and Girard
Avenue near the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The activities are part of the $160.2 million project to rebuild ramps and
improve connections between I-95, the Betsy Ross Bridge and Aramingo
Avenue,
and the $211.7 million project to rebuild and widen 1.5 miles of northbound
I-95 from the Girard Avenue to the Allegheny Avenue interchanges.
