I-76 Overnight Lane Closures Next Week for Construction in Montgomery
County
4/18/2018-KING OF PRUSSIA
Interstate 76 motorists will face overnight lane closures next week and
daytime
ramp restrictions Sunday morning, April 22 at the Interstate 476
Interchange
for work on a project to repair and resurface 12.5 miles of the expressway
in
Upper Merion Township, West Conshohocken Borough and Lower Merion Township,
Montgomery County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)
announced today.
On Sunday, April 22, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, lane restrictions are
scheduled
on the ramp from westbound I-76 to northbound I-476 and the ramp from
southbound I-476 to I-76, so crews can remove temporary barrier and perform
line-striping operations to complete repair work on both ramps.
In addition, Monday, April 23, through Thursday, April 26, from 9:00 PM to
5:00
AM the following morning, lane closures are scheduled on eastbound and
westbound I-76 between the U.S. 202 and U.S. 1 (City Avenue) interchanges
for
various construction activities.
Motorists are advised to use an alternate route or allow extra time when
traveling on I-76 and I-476 in the work areas because significant backups
and
delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling, overlaying and
rehabilitating existing pavement; performing base repairs; installing new
guide
rail; repairing or replacing damaged traffic signs, two overhead sign
structures and numerous expansion joints on three structures; and
installing
rumble strips, delineators and new mileage markers along the four-lane
section
of I-76.
The resurfacing of mainline I-76 in Montgomery County was completed in
October
2017, while work on the entire project will finish this summer.
J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County is the general contractor on
