Eastbound Route 23 (Main Street) to Close Next Month as Work Resumes on Improvement Project in Elverson Borough

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that work is scheduled to resume on Monday, February 25, on a project to improve a 1.2-mile section of Route 23 (Main Street) in Elverson Borough, Chester County.  Route 23 (Main Street) motorists will encounter single lane flagging operations for several days leading up to the full closure of Eastbound Route 23 (Main Street) for approximately three months for drainage improvements.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, February 25, through Saturday, March 3, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane restrictions with flagging are scheduled on eastbound and westbound Route 23 (Main Street) between Pine Street and Yeingst Drive; and
• Monday, March 4, through late May, eastbound Route 23 (Main Street) is scheduled to close between Route 82 (Chestnut Street) and Pine Street. During the closure, eastbound Route 23 (Main Street) motorists will be directed to use Route 401 (Conestoga Road) and Route 345 (Bulltown Road).

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Work on this restoration project began in July 2018 to replace deteriorated drainage structures; perform full-depth pavement reconstruction; and install ADA curb ramps at the intersections with Route 82 (Chestnut Street), Hall Street, Park Avenue, Pine Street, and Brick Lane.

This operation is also being coordinated with the Elverson Water Company which will work concurrently to replace its water line on Route 23 (Main Street).

Allan Myers, LP, of Worcester, PA, is the general contractor on the $4,493,554 project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. Construction on the entire project is expected to be completed in the fall.
