PennDOT - District 6 News: City Avenue Special Services District to Restrict U.S. 1 (City Avenue) for Construction in Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties

City Avenue Special Services District to Restrict U.S. 1 (City Avenue) for Construction in Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties

King of Prussia, PA – City Avenue Special Services District is planning weekday lane restrictions on northbound and southbound U.S. 1 (City Avenue) in Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County beginning Monday, March 16, for drainage improvements and median installation, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. 

The work schedule is:

  • Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are scheduled on northbound and southbound U.S. 1 (City Avenue) between Berwick Road and Lapsley Lane for drainage work; and
  • Monday, March 23, through late September, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are scheduled on northbound and southbound U.S. 1 (City Avenue) between Berwick Road and for drainage work; and 53rd Street for drainage work and median installation.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

City Avenue Special Services District will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
