PennDOT - District 6 News: Henry Avenue, Platt Bridge Lane Closures Next Week for Bridge Inspections in Philadelphia

Henry Avenue, Platt Bridge Lane Closures Next Week for Bridge Inspections in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – Lane closures are scheduled next week on Henry Avenue and the George C. Platt Memorial Bridge (Route 291/Penrose Avenue) in Philadelphia for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:
  • Tuesday, September 25, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane is scheduled to close on Henry Avenue in both directions between Gates Street and Valley Avenue;
  • Wednesday, September 26, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, alternating left and right lane closures are scheduled on southbound Henry Avenue between Ridge Avenue and Port Royal Avenue; and
  • Wednesday, September 26, and Thursday, September 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane is scheduled to close in the eastbound direction on the George C. Platt Memorial Bridge (Route 291/Penrose Avenue) between 26th Street and the Interstate 95.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least once every two years to ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.
