I-76 Overnight Lane Closures Scheduled Next Week for Overhead Bridge Repairs in Montgomery County
King of Prussia, PA – Lane closures are scheduled in both directions on Interstate 76 between the U.S. 202 and Belmont Avenue/Green Lane interchanges in Upper Merion Township and West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County, on Monday, September 17, through Friday, September 21, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, for construction activities related to the rehabilitation of the bridge carrying Spring Garden Street over I-76, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
Motorists traveling on I-76 are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work zone because slowdowns will occur. The work schedule is weather dependent.
Built in 1951, the one-span, steel-frame bridge is 87 feet long and 29 feet wide. The structure carries an average of 490 vehicles a day.
Work on the Spring Garden Street Bridge over I-76 is part of PennDOT's $5,505,505 project to rehabilitate 10 structurally deficient bridges in Bucks, Chester and Montgomery counties.
Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., is the general contractor on the project which is financed with 100 percent state funds through Act 89, Pennsylvania's transportation plan.
Work on the project is expected to be completed in late 2018.
