U.S. 322 Daytime Lane Closures, Stoppages Next Week for Bridge Construction in Concord Township, Delaware County

King of Prussia, PA –  U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) will be restricted to a single lane with periodic full stoppages of up to 15 minutes between Fellowship Road and Station Road South in Concord Township, Delaware County on Tuesday, February 11, and Wednesday, February 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for beam placement on the new bridge over Webb Creek, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists should expect significant delays on U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway), allow extra time for travel through the work areas, or use an alternate route.

If weather forces cancellation of the planned operation, the beam placement and resultant restrictions and stoppages will take place on Thursday, February 13, and if needed on Friday, February 14, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The new bridge construction is part of the ongoing $64.5 million Section 101 project to widen and reconstruct U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) from U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) to Clayton Park Drive in Concord Township. Section 101 is scheduled to be completed in late 2020.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on the project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.

PennDOT began construction in early 2017 on the first-of-two mainline projects (Section 101) to widen and reconstruct a 6.7-mile section of U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) from U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) to just east of Route 452 (Market Street) in Concord, Bethel and Upper Chichester townships, Delaware County.

Engineering design is advancing for the widening and reconstruction of the eastern section (Section 102) of the highway from just east of Clayton Park Drive to just east of Route 452 (Market Street). Engineering design also continues a contract to replace the U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) bridge over the CSX railroad and Bethel Road and improve the adjacent Bethel Road Interchange.
