Resurfacing Planned on I-95 and Several Other State Highways in Philadelphia Region
King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that resurfacing is planned on Interstate 95 and several other state highways in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, and Montgomery counties, under multiple ongoing projects to repair and pave more than 200 miles of state highway across the Philadelphia region.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
Philadelphia
- Wednesday, October 30, through Friday, November 1, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on I-95 between the Allegheny Avenue and the Betsy Ross Bridge interchanges for milling and paving.
Bucks County
- Monday, November 4, through Friday, November 15, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Cherry Lane will be closed weekdays between Route 232 (Second Street Pike) and Township Line Road in Wrightstown Town for milling and paving. During the closure, motorists are directed to use Route 232 (Second Street Pike), Durham Road, and Township Line Road. Local access will be maintained.
Chester County
- Monday, October 28, through Friday, November 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Homeville Road/Cream Road/Scroggy Road between Bryson Road and Pine Street in Upper Oxford and Lower Oxford townships and Oxford Borough for base repair.
- Monday, October 28, through Friday, November 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 896 (Newark Road) between Homeville Road and Georgetown Road in Upper Oxford Township for base repair.
- Monday, October 28, through Friday, November 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is schedule at the Street Road and Homeville Road Intersection in Upper Oxford Township for base repair.
- Monday, October 28, through Friday, November 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is schedule on Street Road between Scroggy Road and Forge Road in Lower Oxford for base repair.
Montgomery County
- Monday, October 28, through Friday, November 1, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning , a left lane closure is scheduled in both directions on Route 309 (Fort Washington Expressway) between the Paper Mill Road and the Pennsylvania Turnpike interchanges in Whitemarsh and Springfield townships for raised pavement marker installation.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near or through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Under these resurfacing and improvement projects, PennDOT's contractors are repairing, milling, and repaving state highways with new asphalt pavement that will seal roadways and provide motorists with a safer and smoother riding surface.
Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
