PennDOT Closes Section of U.S. 13 (Morton Avenue) in City of Chester

PennDOT Closes Section of U.S. 13 (Morton Avenue) in City of Chester for Safety Due to Damaged Building

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that U.S. 13 (Morton Avenue) has been closed in both directions between 9th Street and 4th Street (Route 291) in the City of Chester, Delaware County, due to a damaged building.

During the closure, southbound U.S. 13 (Morton Avenue) motorists will be directed to use 9th Street, Avenue of the States, Welsh Street, and Route 291 (Industrial Highway/4th Street). Northbound Morton Avenue motorists will be directed to use 4th Street (Route 291), Route 320 (Madison Street), and 9th Street.

U.S. 13 (Morton Avenue) will remain closed until the City of Chester develops a plan for the damaged building and the roadway can be safely reopened for the traveling public.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways including color-coded winter conditions, by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
