Thursday...
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Winter
Storm Warning for snow... which is in effect from 4 am to 4 PM EST
Thursday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.
* Locations... northeastern Maryland, northern Delaware,
southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 4 to 6 inches.
* Hazard types... heavy snow.
* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.
* Timing... rain will overspread the area between midnight and 3 am
Thursday and change to sleet and then snow from northwest to
southeast by dawn Thursday. The snow should be heavy at times
Thursday morning before quickly tapering off from west to east
during midday or the afternoon.
* Impacts... the heavy snow will make many roads briefly
impassable and may produce widespread power outages due to the
weight of the snow on tree limbs and power lines.
* Winds... north 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
* Temperatures... falling into the upper 20s to around 30 during
the snow then a slight afternoon recovery.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
