U.S. 422 West Lane Closure Monday Night for Sign Structure Installation in
Valley Forge Area
7/13/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA
A right lane closure and intermittent 15-minute traffic stoppages are
scheduled
on westbound U.S. 422 between the Pennsylvania Turnpike overpass and the
First
Avenue Interchange in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County, and Upper Merion
Township, Montgomery County, on Monday, July 17, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM,
for
sign structure installation, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT) announced today. In the event of rain, the contractor will
perform
the work Tuesday night, July 18, or Wednesday night, July 19.
PennDOT advises drivers to allow additional time for travel on westbound
U.S.
422 near the construction zone because backups will occur.
This work is part of the $97.4 million project to build new, wider bridges
to
improve travel and carry U.S. 422 motorists over the Schuylkill River,
Norfolk
Southern Railroad, South Trooper Road and Schuylkill River Trail in West
Norriton, Upper Merion and Lower Providence townships. The project includes
improving U.S. 422 between the Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and Route 363
(Trooper Road) interchanges; upgrading Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) at its
interchange with U.S. 422; and improving ramps at the Route 363 (Trooper
Road),
Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and First Avenue interchanges. Construction
began
in February 2016 and is scheduled to finish in May 2020.
J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
project that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state
funds.
