PennDOT - District 6 News: I-95 Lane Closures at Next Week for Lighting and Sign Inspections in Philadelphia

I-95 Lane Closures at Next Week for Lighting and Sign Inspections in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA - Lane closures will be in place at night next week in both directions on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia for testing of highway lighting and inspections of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) signs and devices, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. 


The work schedule is:
  • Monday, October 29, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM Tuesday, October 30, the northbound right lane will be closed between the Interstate 676 and Girard Avenue interchanges for testing of the highway lighting;
  • Monday, October 31, through Friday, November 2, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, two southbound lanes will be closed periodically for inspections of ITS sign structures between the Betsy Ross Bridge and Allegheny Avenue interchanges; and 
  • Monday, October 31, through Friday, November 2, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, two northbound lanes will be closed periodically for inspection of ITS devices between the Route 291/Bartram Avenue and Philadelphia International Airport interchanges.
The work is part of or funded through the ongoing projects totaling $524 million to reconstruct the Girard Avenue Interchange and adjoining sections of northbound and southbound between the Allegheny Avenue and the Girard Avenue interchanges.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling on I-95 through the work area. The scheduled operations are weather dependent.
