ReadyMontco - Montgomery Township Alert

This is a message from ReadyMontco

A winter storm mix is expected to bring widespread precipitation, strong winds, and potential hazards to our area tonight, Saturday, February 15th. Residents should prepare for changing weather conditions and possible impacts, including snow, ice, heavy rain, and strong winds.

Key Developments & Impacts:

  • Snow & Ice Accumulation:

    • Precipitation will begin as snow near and northwest of I-95 before transitioning to rain from south to north Saturday evening into Saturday night.
    • Accumulations of 2 to 4 inches of snow are expected in affected areas.
    • Ice accumulation of up to 0.15 inches is possible, especially in higher elevations under the Winter Weather Advisory.
  • Heavy Rain & Flooding Concerns:

    • 1 to 2 inches of rainfall is expected between Saturday evening and Sunday, which could cause localized minor flooding.
    • Residents in flood-prone areas should stay alert for potential high water levels and take necessary precautions.
  • High Winds & Power Outages:

    • A strong cold front moving offshore late Sunday will bring much colder temperatures and strong winds.
    • Wind gusts between 45-60 mph are expected Sunday afternoon through Monday, with the strongest gusts in higher elevations and coastal areas.
    • These high winds may cause widespread power outages and tree damage.

Stay Prepared:

  • Have an emergency kit ready, including flashlights, batteries, and non-perishable food.
  • Charge your devices and prepare for possible power outages.
  • Secure outdoor objects to prevent wind damage.
  • Avoid unnecessary travel, especially in icy or flooded areas.
