62 Police Departments Across Southeast Pennsylvania to Target Aggressive Drivers During Spring Mobilization

62 Police Departments Across Southeast Pennsylvania to Target Aggressive
Drivers During Spring Mobilization

3/19/2018-KING OF PRUSSIA

Sixty-two municipal police departments from Bucks, Chester, Delaware and
Montgomery counties as well as the Philadelphia Police Department will
conduct
aggressive driving enforcement activities as part of a statewide
mobilization
that runs from today through April 29.

The enforcement is part of the Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement
and
Education Project and is funded by part of PennDOT's investment of federal
funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"Our number one goal is to keep our roads safe," says PennDOT District 6
Executive Kenneth M. McClain. "This type of aggressive driving enforcement
coupled with community outreach and education will reduce dangerous driving

behaviors that put motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians at risk."

Since the project was launched in 2006, nearly 600 roadways have been
targeted
with additional enforcement and education.

Municipal police departments will be targeting motorists exhibiting
aggressive-driving behaviors such as running red lights, speeding and
tailgating.

If you encounter an aggressive driver, PennDOT offers these tips:

• Get out of their way and don't challenge them;
• Stay relaxed, avoid eye contact and ignore rude gestures; and
• Don't block the passing lane if you are driving slower than most of the
traffic.
