U.S. 1 North Right Lane Closure at Night Next Week for Construction in Bensalem Township
King of Prussia, PA – Northbound U.S. 1 motorists will encounter a right lane closure between Old Lincoln Highway and Rockhill Drive in Bensalem Township, Bucks County on Monday, April 1, through Friday, April 5, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning for construction activities on a project to widen and improve U.S.1 and reconstruct the interchange at Street Road (Route 132), the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The lane restrictions will be in place as construction continues to remove the existing northbound U.S.1 concrete pavement; install the project's stormwater drainage system; dismantle overhead signs; and begin construction activities on the Street Road (Route 132) overpass.
The first of two years of northbound work, including reconstruction of the Street Road (Route 132) ramps on both sides of the interchange, is currently underway on the project to widen and improve a 1.3-mile section of U.S. 1 from Old Lincoln Highway, at the Philadelphia border, to north of the Pennsylvania Turnpike's Bensalem Interchange.
This corridor improvement project is the first of three construction contracts to rebuild and widen U.S. 1; replace aging bridges; and install safety enhancements along a four-mile section of the expressway from just north of Philadelphia to just north of Route 413 (Pine Street) in Middletown Township and Langhorne Borough.
