Wolf Administration Announces Start of Construction to Replace Two Ardmore Avenue Bridges in Haverford Township, Delaware County
King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 25, on a project to replace two bridges that carry Ardmore Avenue over Cobbs Creek and SEPTA's Norristown High-Speed Line in Haverford Township, Delaware County.
"PennDOT has worked with many stakeholders on this important bridge replacement project, including SEPTA and the township to ensure this project is delivered in a timely manner and with limited impacts to motorists and residents," said Governor Tom Wolf.
The purpose of the bridge replacement is to address existing deficiencies of the Ardmore Avenue bridges and provide a long-term transportation facility that is structurally sound, capable of handling the volume of expected traffic along this state highway and improve the safety of motorists and pedestrians.
Beginning Monday, March 25, through Friday, April 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Ardmore Avenue will be reduced to a single lane with flagging weekdays between Haverford Road and Golf House Road for tree removal operations.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.
After required aerial utility line relocation work has been completed in late spring, Ardmore Avenue will be closed for construction between Darby Road and Haverford Road. During the closure, Ardmore Avenue motorists will be detoured over Haverford Road, College Avenue and Darby Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.
J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, Chester County is the general contractor on the $9,837,500 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds Construction on this project is expected to finish in the spring of 2020.
