King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is underway on a safety improvement project to upgrade traffic signals at intersections on 2nd Street between Lehigh Avenue and Rising Sun Avenue and 5th street between Cheltenham Avenue and Godfrey Avenue in Philadelphia.
"Projects such as this allow us to upgrade our intersections with innovative technology to increase pedestrian visibility and safety," said Governor Tom Wolf.
Under this project, PennDOT will upgrade traffic signals with new pedestrian countdown timers, LED lighting, crosswalks, signage and upgrade the fiber interconnect signal system, which will allow signals to be connected with the City's system.
This week, excavation and wiring operations work will get underway from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day on 5th Street between Chelton Avenue and 66th Avenue. The operations will have no impact to traffic.
